hucast suggested ideal equipment: d-parts and s-parts quest

i'm wondering if the d-parts 1.01 and s-parts 2.01 interact with each other somehow. basically, i'm looking over the defensive items list, and it seems to me that it'd be better to use a kasami bracer for a shield, and something like a df field for armor. what i'm wondering is, are the d-parts and s-parts listed as ideal items because wearing them together gives the character a greater bonus (you know, like wearing db's armor, shield, and using db's sword), or is it just because the two together give a decent atp bonus? like i said, it seems to me that there are better armor and shield available, which is why i'm curious to know if the d-parts and s-parts do something special. thanks in advance.
