What is up with Spread Needle?

What is up with Spread Needle what I mean is on this site they list it as a Rifle but it doesn't shoot any farther than my Final Impact. How could this be fixed and does anyone say otherwise.

Its a special kind of rifle that fires 5 shots at once. In order to not be too powerful, the range is cut to a bit lower than normal mechgun range.

It's considered a rifle class weapon by the game, because of it's speed I believe. It was this way back in V1 and V2, that's how it's know for sure. If you dropped an Srank need it would appear to be a rifle to a V1 player, thus the game putting it in the rifle family.
