ok...on challenge mode...right? in area 1 the forest 1 part...there is a little thing sticking out of the ground that sez my name...does ANYONE know what that is??? cuz it dont give me any options to do anything with it...

Yup. It's a tombstone. Bad news is that it showed your latest death on that stage and total deaths. The good news is it may randomly drop a set of items like Monomates or Dimates if you're lucky. Whenever you see a grave, touch it (run through it) and see if it gives you anything.

Graves also seem to record what was last said (typed out) in that area. I'm not entirely sure it's related to the last words the person said or just whoever said something nearby.

Also, it seems like if all the players in the group are gathered around the grave it has a tendency to drop more items than if just one person ran by it. Hard to test since things get chaotic in online C-mode...It's the time attack part.
