Does the game have an ending?

Pretty much like my topic said. You beat the final boss, credits roll, most mysteries left unsolved. When I got to hard mode and the boss had an extra form, I went 'ah ha, I betcha very hard is the REAL final battle'.
So when I win on very hard..... the credits roll. Thats an 'epilouge'?
