I use Girl characters on pso...plain and simple. Im not a cross dresser...im not gay. I just use girl characters. I get HIT ON ALL THE TIME BY GUYS! Do NOT ASSUME THAT JUST CUZ IT IS A FEMALE CHARACTER THAT IT IS A GIRL PLAYING! It is very annoying and embarrasing to be hit on by some guy without realizing until he says "I am your protector, nebody that touches you dies" ... PLUS i have no keyboard so it takes me a while to type out that i am a guy. Plz I ask you DONT ASSUME! Its very annoying. This happens at least every time i go on pso. plz tell me if this also happens to you and what ur thoughts are about this.

It seems that most characters on PSO are girl characters. My main character is a RAmarl. I use her because I RAmarls are cool. I have plenty of other friends who have girl characters. There's nothing wrong with it.

Of my 8 characters, two are female. One was created simply because I found a rare that needed a hunewearl to use it. The other is a hucaseal because I wanted to try a new character.

If you don't like being hit on, just make a hot-key that says "My name is Brian. I'm a 265lb ex-con." They won't even look at you.

I'm a male in real life and I have used several female characters in the past and believe me, there are some perverted minds that play this game.I have gotten some rare items for free in the past just because I made a really sexy female character. But some people in the game don't care. I remember one guy who was acting too much like a gentleman for me and I told him I was a male in real life and he didn't care. I guess he was role playing because he said he only saw people as they were in the game or something like that. Personally, I feel the same way he does because there could be a real macho guy character in the game who's a girl in real life. This is a game after all. I have three female characters out of my eight. One is a tiny HUcaseal I like. One is a RAmarl I don't like. One is a FOnewearl that looks exactly like Elly from Knowing One's Heart.

The rest are all males. I'm female, but I go both ways. I shy away from the female characters because they're all tiny whores or bitchy-looking... There are no average, decent-looking girls. You either have a tiny whorish HUnewearl, a tiny pedophilic circus freak FOnewearl, a bitchy looking RAmarl, or a 'droid. Out of the choices, the 'droids are usually the least offensive. But really, I can't make a fleshbag female I like, they're all tiny, and they all dress like whores, freaks or military bimbos. Yuck!

On the other hand, HUmars, FOmars and FOnewms all dress decently, and don't all look like sluts. And I prefer having a male avatar and if people think I'm a man, that suits me perfectly fine. You get treated better that way most places.

Its funny how RL females don't like the way the female classes look (too slutty), and think the males look OK. Yet, guys are the other way around, basically saing the male classes just look too stupid. Those of us who feel like the character is presenting our image or sense of style when it is the same sex don't like those characters, but because the opposite sex characters are clearly not representing us, are ok with it.

I find it easier to separate the character from the person if the character is of the opposite class.


I'm male, and the reason I play a lot of female classes is because I think the Male classes look stupid in general, but also are just inferior stat wise (RAmarl vs RAmar, especially). I can't possibly see how to make a FOnewm that I would play without feeling like a total dork walking around with a puffy hat and circus attire. So I made one that is as UGLY AS POSSIBLE. Big, fat, purple, with a fro (with greenil clashing ID). At least he's supposed to look ugly, but I can't stand his huge butt in my screen so he's only level 3. Kinda looks like a purple nutty professor in a clown outfit.


I have a HUcast, because at least he's a robot so I identify less. I don't want to play a RAcast because I don't like droid Rangers, and there were way too many of them in PSO for the DC.

HUmar is ok in some cases, and just ugly or very boring in others. Probably the least ugly class, but most boring and generic.

But I'd rather play my HUnewarl or RAmarl, because if I'm going to have techs, I might as well have the best in the class.

My FOmar is another story, I didn't like any verison I tried until I got the "old, robed, bearded master" look, made the robe red, made him look evil and named him lassic (the bad guy in PS 1).

I think I'll delete that silly FOnewm though, but first I should go online to see what people say for fun.

I would also think that the people you're playing with would also know if you're a male/female by the way you act, well generally. And when you're on Xbox, I'm sure it's even more likely they can tell when you're speaking to them. Voice masking might be a lil different, but I would say it doesn't make a big difference. It's all about you're attitude. I know you can't always tell, but generally you can.

I don't play as Female characters. I am a guy and like to play as a guy character. I have nothing against playing as a Female, though. I think you should play what you like. My little brother plays as a RAmarl, he likes the character, plus I told him to pick a RAmarl... Yeah, the getting hit on thing on a Female character and Male player would be very weird, that is why(on DC) I avoided the flurting b.s., not only because I do not know if the player is Male in real life, but because it is pointless.

I'm a girl and my main character is a FOnewm. Mainly, I just thought they looked funny and the fact that I'm a more magic orientated person. Actually my FOnewm looks pretty cute. He has the little jester cotton ball hat look going on, so that more or less makes up for the funny looking pumpkin butt issue my beloved class has.
On another note: I also like to play as a guy because I don't like people thinking I'm weaker or that I need to be helped in doing things. Honestly, I'm not incapable just because I have breasts.

When I first played PSO, I had no idea of anything, stats, bonuses, etc. So we started playing it at my friends' house. He told me that Hunters use swords and go upfront in battle, rangers use guns, and forces use magic, but they're hard for beginners.

I thought, hunters? Too common. Rangers? Guns? Too easy. I picked Force because I thought they'd be most fun to play with. Then he told me about the four different forces. I thought the FOmar was a was weird. A force with high attack? That's just like a hunter! Then he showed me the FOnewman and newearal. They both looked weird so I chose the FOmarl. She looked the coolest. She's now at lvl 90.

Yea, I'm a guy who's memory card is like 3 girls and one guy, and I find nothing wrong with it. I'm not gay or anything (and that's a GREAT idea for having that saying on your shortcuts! lol ^_^) but for some reason, I just like playing with girl characters. For example, have any of you played Jet Force Gemini? I always wanted to play with Vela because I just thought she was cool and also I thought Juno was a glory hog ^_^ lol. I usually play girls more in most games because they are faster in video game land. I don't think women are faster in real combat, but when it comes to games, guys are stronger and girls are faster.

Since I like speed and agility over brute force, the female characters usually appeal to me more. Being cute is just a side benefit.

Yep, that's another thing the female characters of PSO have over thier male counterparts, speed. I recently fond some G-Assasin arms and turned them into G-Assasin Sabres, I tried them with my Hucaseal and they seemed alright if not inferior in ATP to my Yamato so I gave it to my Fomar and I was shocked when I saw him use them....The...animation... is...so...different...and...soo...SLOW. It's not just the difference between my Hucaeal and my Fomar, there is also the issue of my Humar and and the way he swings swords, once again it...is...soo...SLOW. Swinging a sword with him is suicide, my Hucaseal swings a sword much faster on 50hz PAl settings than my Humar does on 60hz PAL settings.

I just have one of each gender in each class, just to see what I like best. I like most of the female characters, and yes, I'm a guy. Their attack styles are better than the males in my opinion. And I know how it is to be hit on by a guy online and be offered free stuff, but I use that to my advantage ^.^ I don't tell them I'm male until the game is finished, so that's what they get for making assumptions. I use two female characters, a RAcaseal and a FOnewearl. (As you can see from their levels I really haven't played much yet.) It doesn't have anything to do with my sexuality (I'm gay), I chose them because their stats made them characters that made the most sense to use for my style of play.

I haven't really dealt with people wanting to give me gifts, and I'm not quite sure what i'll do about that if it happens to be honest. Guys do sometimes hit on my characters so I just let them know I'm a guy and they stop, it isn't really a big deal.

I personally like playing the female characters, because most of the male characters look kinda dorky no matter what you do (just 18 palatte swaps of the same ugly costume).

Part of the problem for a lot of people is that it's hard to make a character look like you. I'm sure if people had an easier time making their characters look like them, and could associate with them more, a lot of people would. As is, for most people, if you're playing, say, a HUmar that looks like you, you're going to be a clone of about 10 people in any room you walk into online.

Of course, I never though there was enough variation in characters' looks. (Especially the faces... 5 options, and usually 1 or 2 of them is just awful.)

I think that's a very good quote, ha ha ha. I agree with that totally. Anyways, I'm a guy, and I use primarily female characters. If you ask me for a reason, I don't really have one. It's just my "taste" so to speak. In many fighting games that I've played, I've been known for using all Female teams, heck most of them were even "cutesy" characters, ie, Sakura from SFA2, and Yuri from KOF. People all have different tastes and like different things. If they are guys who like being female characters, so be it. If they are girls who ike being male characters, so be it. People choose who they want to choose, and they have their different reasons.
Oh, and using mostly females chars, yeah I have been hit on, given free stuff by guys, and been asked stupid stuff like "Will you be my PSO mate?" Coming from me personally, I would just brush them off right then and there, but because I like messing with peoples heads, I started to turn PSO into a true Role Playing Game for my characters. I can be nice and creative with things... after all I do write as a hobby... so I just get around people like this by having my characters have no interest in love what-so-ever (Like Yuki). I know I'm probably going to get backlash for that one, but it's how I choose to play. Myself, I use a HUmar who looks like me, and a HUnewearl who looks as good as possible for my taste. I wanted to play the class, and also be able to look at it. ~_^ I haven't gone online with her yet, but I hope to run into some hitters because I just think it would be fun.
I can understand why people hit on female characters, though. They hope there is a female playing with it, and are kind of really looking out for a girlfriend. I can't blame them. Communication in this age is already sparse enough, it's difficult sometimes to meet someone. At worst, nobody really wants to talk to you in real life.
