Purplenums feel my pain. In my elusive search for the Spread Needle, I have done a bunch of Ruins runs. The two times he has dropped a red box it has been a photon drop, thus stopping my heart for no reason. *SIGH*
Last night I finally got the courage to go defeat Dark Falz to see the ult. ending and he wasn't as bad offline as I thought he would be. Online is much worse. O_o

Anyhoo, about how long did it take any of you to find it? After I get off from work (really long shift *cries*), I'm gonna try again.

My Purplenum ain't ready to go into the Ruins yet, but I feel your pain. VulpesMundi's Li'l whuppass FOnewearl did countless Ruins runs (at least you get tech disks!) and took my RAmar along for a few. The weird part was we found a stat-less Spread while playing a four-player team in offline split-screen mode. It just hit the floor. Eventually, VM did get another Spread (with Dark on it) with his Redria char. Note that Bringers have an 80% item (any item) drop rate. This is useful.

Greennill also gets it off Merlans, but I don't know the drop rates for Greennill vs Purplenum. It could be that Greennill has a higher chance of finding one.

It seems that Enemy drop rate doesn't vary from ID to ID and that the Spread Needle has the same chance of appearing with both ID's. So, both Greenil and Purplenum have equal chances.

i just found a spread needle offline in the last room of ruins off the last enemy in the room http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif it dropped from the horse enemy. Im guessing thats the merlan.
