Soul Singer Barry White Dies At 58
Singer Had Been Undergoing Dialysis Treatment

POSTED: 4:46 p.m. EDT July 4, 2003
UPDATED: 5:06 p.m. EDT July 4, 2003

Velvet-voiced R&B crooner Barry White, renowned for his lush baritone and carnal lyrics that oozed sex appeal on songs such as "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe," died Friday morning, his manager said.

White, who had suffered kidney failure from years of high blood pressure, died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center around 9:30 a.m., said manager Ned Shankman. White was 58.

White had been undergoing dialysis treatment and had been hospitalized since last September.

White's work epitomized seductive disco music. The heavyset musician enjoyed three decades of fame for songs like "You're the First, the Last, My Everything" and "It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next To Me."

The seductive sound of his deep bass voice has not only been featured in his music, but also in radio and television advertisements.

White, longtime producer/friend Jack Perry, adviser Abby Schroeder, and Shankman were preparing a "duets" album for release on Def Soul later this year.

White is survived by eight children, grandchildren, and his companion, Catherine Denton.

Allow me to quote the 3 things you need for a successful date, as stated by Ryan Reynolds in "National Lampoon's Van Wilder"..and they actually work.

1: Massage Oil

2: Scented Candles

3: Barry White (Gotta love that voice)

Heard his music, was never a fan of it. Either way, a life is a life, whether it burned brightly or not.

Let me rephrase that, I've heard his music, but I don't listen to it.

I've listened to Barry in the past, but not on a regular basis. But everyone's gotta admit, he had a wonderful voice.
Barry White is a name synonymous with lovin, and always will be. We'll miss you Barry.

Yet another great, deep-voiced star is gone. *Sigh*

And he was only 58...

EDIT: Rest In Peace.

EDIT: Again, added a period to where it was sorely needed.

Who else died in the music industry recently from similar symptoms? . . . I can't think of it.
