alright, I was hunting down a dial up modem adapter for Gamecube so I could finally get online. I went to the store "gamestop" (used to be "funcoland" if you've heard of it) and asked them if they had the modem. They tell me "no we dont stock it becuase theres only one game that goes online, and Nintendo is going to discontinue it soon." me personally don't beleive him but I wouldn't know, i'm just wondering if anyone knows this is true or just a reason not to stock the adapters.

I've been to Gamestop before, I'll tell you they didn't seem to suit my needs but that's ok.

The modem adaptor has been gone for a long time where I am and if I remember correctly they told me the same thing plenty of months ago. I ended up going to their website and getting a Broadband adaptor thingy but I don't know their status anymore with supplies.

I just checked out the site and it doesn't look like they are carrying any adaptors, not even preowned.

I can't think of any suggestions, maybe Best Buy would have some lying around? I'm not sure. I can't think of many places off the top of my head. I hope you find what you're looking for. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

sega is the company that has the servers for pso, they will hold up the game, but the BBA is being discontinued because nintendo isnt smart enough to support their company saving product.

Why the heck would Nintendo stop making them when one of their forth coming games supports in a major way?

Ok, first off dont ever listen to anyone at gamestop from my experince they are all morons. I asked for Messiah once they said they didnt have it in stock, went to the back of the room they had 3 in. Toys-r-us get big shipments like 13 and thats alot for an modem for the GC. Target does too and walmart does sell them but they one near me stopped selling them.

Oh ya.... Best buy and Circut City tends to sell them too. But ya dont listen to any one at Gamestop. Only ask them for one if you cant find it on your own.

Actually, there's absolutely NO reason for Nintendo to discontinue the BBA, as their upcoming Mario Kart: Double Dash will be making use of it for it's LAN support.

That's the link you follow to buy one directly from Nintendo.
I bought mine from them a good while ago and it still one of my best buys yet.
And yes, they should wake up and make more games with online capability.

maybe it's just the dial up modem, and not broadband..
if it's both, well then...

I'm very sure they aren't going to discontinue it. It would be in their very best interest not to. Considering the fact that they would be losing money if they did. Anyway the people at gamestop are just lazy so dont believe them.

Nintendo is'nt going to support it's on product that was just put there to make it look "sellable". Forget that.

In case you people missed those other posts in this topic... MARIO KART: DOUBLE DASH USES THE BBA. They wouldn't cancel a product that actually has a future. So no, BBA's aren't canned, Gamestop and other stores just can't explain why they're too slow at ordering more. Geez...

Bwah.

For starters, I happen to work at a GameSlop. True, I don't like everything that goes on with the company, but, that's what happens when a semi-independent chain like FuncoLand is snarfled up by the evil empire that is Barnes & Noble.

And for what it's worth, I'm certainly not a moron.

Onward.

The company has seen fit to discontinue carrying not only the modems (both kinds) but PSO in general as well. The only version that is still listed as "active" in inventory is the XBox version, and that, I don't know for how long.

What's truly bizzarre, though, is the fact that GameStop won't carry PSO GameCube used, claiming usage of the serial number as reason enough. But we carry the XBox version used. Madness, since one can't even play it offline w/o XBox Live...

I only hope that Episode III fares better... :/

A friend just bought his modem 2 days ago. He asked if PSO was going to be discontinued but the people at Gamexchange said they were not going 2.http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif
