I remember trying four players with 2 of my cousins and my bro. but when we go into battle, everything slows down significantly.

cube or box?

the cube has its limits, 4 player multi is pretty demanding having to render 4 views of one world, just be happy it can do it at all http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Box, duno never seen box version

B-Mode, huh? I suppose it might be because your system might be overheating, or it could be that the system is overworked.
Like when Normal Seabed lagged the game from all the enemies and attack.

Of course online is better. And you are probably getting slowdown because of the demand four players put on the system and the effects of the area. Just like slowdown in ep2 all the time.

Offline has its upsides...

"HEY THATS MY RARE!"
"Not any more!" http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif
*KO, grabs controller dropes rare, grabs own controller, picks up rare*

aaaah, good times
(personally we have never found any rares, still in normal)

It's the system having trouble rendering the new environment fast enough for four players. You'll notice it happen when you all leave the TP for pioneer 2 and its slows for a moment while you all try and run for the shops and stuff. Or wheen you're about to enter a new room that's rather large, and it hasn't finished rendering it. And if you all split up, it makes it even harder to render the independent areas.

Hmm most likly its just a case of bad planning which resulted,in pso pushing both PSOGC and PSOX to the limit at times.and one more thing does anyone else find it rather funny that K9999 said because Xbox sucks while its rather obvious that.we are talking about Gamecube since his sig says i cant go online because i cant find a modem *LOL*

I think K9999 was joking heh.

Anyways uh, yeah. The more stuff happening, the slower it gets.

Simple explanation: Sonic Team at the end decided not to work on fixing the slow down problem for 4 players. It's not too bad, but at times it can get fairly bad. It's reminiscent of being online on the DC (using dial up) with 4 players in a game; heavy traffic (actions) causes slow down. Funny how slow down is virtually non-existent with 1-3 players. It's almost like 4 is too much offline, but 3 is fine. Of course, online would be fine if ur using broadband.

It's simple really. If you have too many things going on at the same time, the system will slow down, like a PC basically. 4-player doesn't require as much power as 1-player. Don't worry, it's nothing to do with the game, usually the Gamecube. The XBox should cope with this better than the Gamecube though since it has a faster processor (Intel 733Mhz to IBM 465Mhz), more memory and better graphics (nVidia compared to ATi). I'm not sure about the speeds above but they are just estimations.

Depends on what you mean about "cope." Unfortunately, regardless of either system there is slowdown with both systems during 4 player offline games.

Maybe for PSO since I haven't yet played the XBox version but if it was possible to have a 3DMark test, the XBox would win by a mile. Still, the Gamecube has plenty of power in it!

Xbox is a box too. It has green. Geniuses choose green; just ask Robert Deniro. (and no I'm not sayin which system is better).

My GCN is platinum; matches with my GBA and SP (bling bling). http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

i play alot of GC offline multiplayer and i think it is because theres alot more sprites to draw when playing offline than online

sloppy programming... there are tons of games that run in 4 player split screen on both xbox and gamecube that draw way more and do way more calculations than pso and don't slow down as much, or don't slow down at all...
