I'm almost positive my Comcast Cable runs on DHCP. The only problem with this is that when I disconect my network cable to connect my GC directly to the Modem, I'm guessing here, but I think the the DHCP server is not making an IP unless the modem is connected to my computer. When I try to get online, It says that the DHCP is either down, or is non-existant. I tried using my USB cables and plugging GC cable directly to the modem, but still no avail. I tried to route it through the computer using the USB also. That didn't work. Does this mean I have to purchase a router so I connect both my network cord and my GC cord to the modem at the same time? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
