Yeah it should, but it isn't. Sadly, server maintenance, bandwidth, programmers (though they seem underused over at ST), do cost money.

If it was I'd be online right now.

Now, if it were free it wouldn't exactly be called a fee now would it?

Option D: Kill everyone who cannot afford 10 bucks a month and comes to bitch about it

It's not just $10 a month, though. Not if you're playing on Xbox. There aren't any other Xbox gmes I want to play online, so paying for XBL on top of the PSO monthly fee is kind of a waste.

Boofuckinghoo. Go play on GC or DC then. Seriously if you bought XBL just for PSO you a fucking addict anyways so buying an GC+BBA+PSO probably wouldn't be such a big deal. Seriously i can't see myself playing this for more than 4 months so HUcares.

9 bucks isn't so bad, and it seems pretty easy to stop your account and restart it. (At least, I hope so, I gotta freeze mine next week...)

5 would be a bit more tolerable, I think. But hey, remember there are a bunch of people who are paying 13 a month for Everquest and Star Wars Galaxies, so they have it a bit worse.

$8.95 isn't that bad. Sure, we'd all be happy with a free online game, but that's probably not gonna happen. Look at the bright side, when episode 3 comes out, you can use your existing HL for that game, so that's $8.95 a month for two games; and besides, there are many many many MANY more people who pay upwards of $13 a month for the multitude of MMOGs for the PC. Consider yourselves lucky, $8.95 a month is nothing. If you have to, go get a job at McDonalds, and after a week or two, you could pay for a whole month and then some.

Its should stay the same they have to pay for the servers and such and 9 bucks is a farely good price. Comparied to other online games.

You're a moron. Kids can't exactly pull $10 out of their hats each month to pay.

neither of those is reasonable for sega/sonic team. sega can maintain the online game for much less than 8.95. it's a rip-off.

Yes they could, but, would it be profitable? Remember, these people need to meet certain quotas in terms of profit and revenue every year in order to keep a successful business running.

microsoft is so damn rich it should be free http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

i'd pay the cash if they actually did something with it.

who makes a online game w/o a squelch or a kick button

honestly who is that stupid http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

The first PSO was free, it got a massive userbase, Version 2 was released with an online fee, they made quests, updated the servers, banned abusive users, etc.

They have you hooked, and if you want the fix, you're going to pay.

It costs money to pay people to keep the servers operational, hear complaints, address problems/issues and make new quests, right?

Yeah, the credit card is an issue with kids who can't get a credit card, or who have parents who won't let them use it. I personally think time cards would be a great way to go, buy a time card for one month of service, or even if they released them for two or three months of service, those who don't have access to a credit card could go out and purchase them at a local game store.

But there's not, so we have to deal with it, yeah? o_O

Would time cards really be quite hard to implement? I have no idea at all. I only recently heard about certain video game stores selling them for games such as Everquest. No console games that I know of, though.
