the other day when i was playing pso, i was transfering weapons between 2 of my hunters, my second hunter was on another memory card, when it was finishin transfer data... the power went out http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_cry.gif when the power came back on, and i started up PSO again... before it went to the title screen... it said something about my PSO save files being corrupted... and the only way to fix it would be to delete it http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif
i lost over 200 hours between 4 characters, and one was a lvl 105 hunewearl, another was a lvl 89 fomarl, there was a lvl 39 fonewm, and the last one was a lvl 6 humar.
it was a very depressing day indeed.... http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_cry.gif the loss of 2 of my best characters, and some very good stuff. the hunter that was transfer data, wasnt lost. she just lost all of her stuff... at least the character is still there http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

has this sort of thing happened to any of you?

Weird thing happened to me. I nearly lost everything my FOmar had.

I left my FOmar on the transfered slot, and forgot to put him back, I must have hit No when it asked on accident, or something.

Anyway. I go to play, and he's there on the original memory card. Just with No items. Nothing Equipped. Nothing in the bank. No money. I freaked out. I check back on my other memory card to find that he was still in the temp slot. I start a multi game, and he has all his Items!

All I had to do was switch everything on the temp to the real, and everything was okay. The only real loss was a level I had gained while the FOmar was on the temp slot.

Weird, eh?

That same thing happened to me and a friend of mine earlier today. It told me that the memory card was corrupted and that I would have to format it. We pulled the memory card out of the machine and popped the lid open. Then we turned the machine off and put the memory card back in. We turned it back on and went into the memory card management screen and everything was fine, thankfully.

GC people must be masochists for playing online and knowing you can lose everything at any moment yet still support the game with their money. Im just glad i have never been corrupted on the DC or XBOX

If the power goes out while your data is being saved on ANY system, it has a good chance of becoming corrupt.

Gee whiz...you must hate all of the GC fanboys that post here. You must have a lot of bashing saved up for them, right?

-Back on topic-

It's sad for anyone to lose that many hours of playtime (no matter what system they own). Are you going to give it another go or take a break from the game? Maybe some of the better members of the PSO GC community could help you out.

Out of curiosity I started a new character on my friend's Xbox and turned the power off while the game was saving. The only message that was displayed was something along the lines of 'the game was not shut off properly. Character items will be deleted'.

Power going out while saving....yes this happend to me. Lost my lvl 200 HUmar 3 days after hitting lvl 200. It was a situation much like yours. I was going offline to check items in my bank then I was gonna transfer stuff to my char.

After the offline game loaded, that save thing came up in the hunter guild and the power went out before it was finished saving. When it came back, I was prompted to erase everything O_O I didn't. Well, I erased my card file because many people told me to do that but it didn't work.

I'll be back to 200 again though. I don't give up that easy XD I'm already lvling up like crazy, espcially with the new quests.

i had the power go out while i was saving when i was getting offline, lost everything http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif but now my new character is A LOT better than my first one, so just start a new character and stay away from duping, it stinks i know but it will get better

Scary...
4 days ago I was saving my game and while the game was saving the following message appeared on screen " An error has ocurred, please turn off the power and consult the instruction manual ". I felt sick just thinking that my all-powerful HUmar Lv.130 could have gone corrupt ( I have to be honest, I almost cried ).Thankfully nothing happened. It turns out that my GC is just screwed up. Crap !!!

Oh well...

well acutally it isnt't that weird, when i was bored one day i read the instruction booklet and it states that if you cancel the transfer you will infact lose all you items BUT your character will still be there.

But I'm thankful, too, as not a one of my characters has *ever* been corrupted. *knock on wood*

Man, I can't wait until they come out with some new X-Box hacking device, or a massive glitch that corrupts data on a whim when the X-Box is touched, just so I don't have to listen to you snooty X-Box owners proclaim your system to be invincible anymore.

Anyways, on to my story. I leveled up my HUmar for the old Dreamcast to about level 90 before I had the chance to make his debut online. I enjoyed the online environment aside from all the GameSharkers and beggars out there. Then one day, as I entered a team my character wouldn't teleport in. I was stuck with the view of the Hunter's Guild and could do nothing. So I had to reset the game. When I loaded my data back up offlineI was horrified to find that my HUmar had undergone a drastic change. He was now a she. You may have heard of this trick, I think people are calling it Noling your character, seeing as you are transformed into NOL, an NPC that tags along with you on the "Journalistic Persuit" quest.

It's like my HUmar woke up one day, looked down and gasped. "I have boobs!" he exclaims, giving his newfound chest a pat down. The enjoyment soon fades from his face. "Kill me." He pleads. "I don't deserve this." So I gave him a mercy deleting and remade him exactly as he once was.

Not so much of a sad story, because I didn't have to worry about a social life getting in the way of restoring him to his former level and once former glory. ^_^

sorry if someone has already said this I just wanted to post it while I remembered :/
Bit, the character on the original memory card loses its items t othe temp save file to stop A method of duping, and the character was still on the temp because it does save (and keep) the data of temp chars until you transfer it back to its memory card.
I found this out because I did the same thing http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif (hey at least it would have been my friends char not mine, he cant moan either because all is mine, mem cards, gc ect)
heh so its not really that weird its a precaution put there by ST (yay fer ST, that was a close one)

Hmm, wishing misfortune on others is bad karma. Besides, no one has claimed the Xbox to be an invincible platform, it's simply a more stable and viable platform for PSO.

Would you like to know how many times my brand new X box crashed in the hot weather?

Ten in one day.

Know what the guy at the shop said when we took it back?

I smashed my Super Famicom once because it crashed while saving, and my Dragon Quest 6 game erased RIGHT BEFORE THE LAST DUNGEON.

It helps if you can afford the damage though. It felt good, and I don't regret it to this very day.

Oh, and I got 3 other SFCs. ^_^ That one was buggy, deserved me stamping in the circuit board.
