Here's something I stumbled upon when I had my language set to Japanese..
I was just playing around, trying to get the Omega symbol my freind already got. I just glanced through my inventory, and I saw my RED MECHGUN written in JP.. so I decided to replicate it. I knew I'd need to write red.. but I had forgotton if it was 'aka' or 'akai'.
I entered in 'aka' in Hiragana, pressed Space to convert both of the Hiragana, and I got 2 Kanji characters. I then converted the first one, and I got (in Katakana,):
REDDO=RINGU=RIKO
For those of you who can't read Romanji, it basically said,
Red=Ring=Rico,
all in Katakana.

I then converted once again, and it cycled through the following:
Akai No Seiba
Akai No Sodo
Akai No Dagaa
Akai No Paruchisan
Akai No Suraisaa
Akai No Handogan
Akai No Mashingan

Basically meaning,
Red's Saber
Red's Sword
Red's Dagger
Red's Partisan
Red's Slicer
Red's Handgun
Red's Machinegun (Mechgun)

And of course, these are all the names of the RED weapons!

Any more conversion just brings you back to where you started. I thought it was neat.. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif and I still can't figure out why they used equal signs in the REDDO=RINGU=RIKO part..

P.S. Don't get the wrong idea about my JP knowledge.. I know some but it's very limited http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif So I wouldn't be able to translate anything for you http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

wow! How interesting. Though i normally can't stand people that learn Japanese and sing in annoying high pitched voices, etc, I must say that your info is encredibly cool! Its a very good observation. It seems like the Red('s) Weapon part make a lotta sense...hmm... seems like it'd be a new rumor or something... cool
yay

The only people who deserve your contempt are the ones who learn 'kawaii', and start chanting it in every one of their sentances. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

What a find!!

That was a quite amazing discovery you made there Nambrosia. I wonder if anyone else has figured that out yet...

If I were you, I'd send it in to the site as an article as "Red weapon mystery solved."

Once again, great find!!

that is a cool find. but if you beat the game on ult offline then the end sequence shows red ring rico fighting her way through the game. you'll notice that she has all of the red weapons. just like the t-shirt says. but this brings up another interesting question. why do all of the red weapons spell out "healthcliff" when they belong to red ring rico? maybe pso episode III will solve this mystery for us, as it is supposed to be the final installment of the red ring rico storyline.

Maybe Heathcliff gave her these weapons? Or maybe just a Heathcliff stamp of approval.

oh, you mean the auto-complete-function ^-^
nice find.

type in naka, some spaces, you'll get the kanji for naka yuji.
type in 'irasshai', some spaces and you'll get a cute smiley in ascii art.
same goes for 'ha-i' and 'bai'. there prolly even more.

Heathcliff Flowen was Rico's mentor, so she must have carved his name into the weapons as a tribute.

You are right. Type "wara" (smile) a few spaces and get a nice little symbol. I forgot the one for shock. Gives something like ^o^/.

The Japanese version does a whole Japanese->English translation of every item in the game. Type "monomeito" a few spaces and it comes up with "MONOMATE". Try it with any other item (if you know the Japanese for it http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif). It is pretty easy to see if a Japanese person can speak English. If they can, then they will type weapon names in lower case. All translated items are all in capital letters. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

That only means its the best version of that weapon. Its not exactly rare, but its not exactly normal. Its kinda half and half.

Yes. I think 8* items are yellow but not caps and 9* and above are yellow and caps. 13* or 12* (can't remember the exact numbers for these) are red and caps.

Joe is right. They are just a really good version of a normal weapon. I have yellow weapons with Gush, Arrest, King's abilities. But I don't think all weapons with these abilities are yellow.

Wara gives you a few emoticons. Press space to cycle through.

Bai (bye) gives you an emoticon of a person waving.

Namida (tears) gives you a crying emoticon.

Pondo (pound) is the only way to get an english 」 sign.

Anyway, I leave my game in Japanese all the time, because of shortcuts like this. The red ring rico thing is interesting. Interesting because in the Japanese game, I've only seen her referred to as Akai wa no Riko (Red Ring Rico) rather than the nickname in Katakana.

The = sign is just how Japanese games often denote the seperater between a first and second Western style name.

a normal weapon is yellow if:
-it is highest level (Diska, Gungnir)
-is not a gladius or raygun
-the "attribute" (king's, burning) is highest level

examples: Chaos Ripper, Burning Calibur

I thought a raised dot was the seperate between katakana.
