Anyone heard of this kid? Abbadon (think it was him) gave me a link to it a few days ago, and it's a bloody riot.

http://www.jedimaster.net

For those of you who are too lazy to click the link, here is what it's about:

The Star Wars Kid was just goofing off at school. Now he finds his private performance downloaded by Internet users across the world.

The Star Wars Kid is a 15-year-old from Quebec known only as Ghyslain -- his parents are keeping his last name secret to protect his identity. Back in November 2002, Ghyslain was goofing off at a school video studio and recorded himself fighting a mock battle with a broomstick lightsaber. Over two minutes, the video shows the lone, overweight teenager twirling his mock lightsaber ever faster while making his own accompanying sound effects.

Yes, we've all had our dorky, private moments, but this poor kid is living the nightmare of having his private dorkiness projected across the world to giggling Web users. His friends found the tape, and uploaded it to KaZaA as a joke on April 19. Within two weeks, someone had added full Star Wars special effects and noises to the tape, and the video was linked on gaming, technology, and Star Wars-related sites across the Internet.

I recommend the following movies:

Parents file lawsuit over Star Wars Kid video
By TU THANH HA
Globe and Mail Update

MONTREAL - The parents of Ghyslain Raza, the Quebec teenager who became a celebrity this spring after classmates posted on the Internet a video of him mimicking a Star Wars character, allege that their son was so humiliated by the experience that he had to get psychiatric care.

The revelation is made in a lawsuit his parents have filed against the families of four classmates they accuse of maliciously turning their son into an object of mockery.

The video of Ghyslain, a portly 15-year-old pretending he is wielding a double-bladed light sabre, has been downloaded millions of times from several Web sites, which dubbed him Star Wars Kid.

Many other pranksters have created their own versions of the clip, with added video effects and sounds. One has him moving at fast-forward speed to goofy music from the Benny Hill Show. Other parodies were made with unflattering titles, such as Dork Clones, or mixed in with sounds of flatulence.

In a statement of claim filed last week in their home town of Trois-Rivi's, the Razas say that Ghyslain was so widely mocked at his private high school that he dropped out.

He had to finish the session at Pavillon Arc-en-ciel, a ward specializing in child psychiatry at the Trois-Rivi's Regional Hospital Centre.
Ghyslain "will be under psychiatric care for an indefinite amount of time," the statement of claim says.

"The stigma of mental illness can generate social prejudices having severe consequences" on the young man, including making it more difficult for him to enroll in the school of his choice or get a job, or even forcing him to change his name, the document added.
"Ghyslain had to endure, and still endures today, harassment and derision from his high-school mates and the public at large," it said.

The story has appeared in newspapers around the world, from the New York Times to the New Zealand Herald.

The Razas are now seeking $225,000 in damages from the parents of four teenagers: Micha'Caron, Fran's Labarre, J'me Laflamme and Jean-Michel Rheault.

They say the four stole the video from a school filing cabinet where Ghyslain had stored a video camera he was using for a student project.

The lawsuit says the four young men then digitized the video before sending it out on the Internet in April, with messages inviting people to make insulting remarks about it.

The statement of claim includes lengthy excerpts that it says come from Internet chats in May between the pranksters.

Complete with misspellings, bad grammar and cyber-style acronyms, the exchanges are used in the statement of claim as evidence that the boys lacked remorse. They also brag in them that they evaded attempts by school officials to find the culprits behind Ghyslain's misfortunes.

Ghyslain's parents and lawyers would not speak to reporters yesterday. The parents of the defendants either did not answer calls or refused to comment because the dispute was before the courts.

While the video of Ghyslain's antics generated some derisive Internet comments, others felt bad and started raising money for him. One group collected more than $3,000 (U.S.), which they used to buy him an Apple iPod portable music player.

In the excerpts from Internet chats filed in court, the four appear to be plotting ways to get the gifts sent to another address so they can keep the iPod for themselves.

I know it's wrong, but I can't stop laughing...

Personally, I think that anyone who videotapes themselves doing something so goofy is kinda asking for something like this to happen. I mean videotaping yourself doing something so silly, y'should kinda expect that someone is gonna be laughing at this one day.

I'm not saying that Ghyslain at all deserved being laughed at by millions of people on the internet. But it's understanable how something like this can happen.
I, myself, happen to be very geeky. And when I entered me new middle school, I knew that I would have very few friends. But by doing things that were also quite goofy, and I was able to make myself the most popular guy in school. I was very happy of the fact that almost everybody knew me, and Ghyslain should try and think about it that way aswell. Perhaps he could attempt to take solace in the fact that he's made millions of people laugh.

I say it's perfectly fine to laugh at this video. But you must understand the kind of pain that Ghyslain has gone through because of the video. And think about how you might feel if the same thing were to happen to you.

But after thinking about it for a while, I still say that this kid's goin in a Gimp Bizquik music video! Just think about it, he'll be immortalized up with other greats like Waita Uziga (I won't link his site because I do not wish to be banned, plus, you've probably all seen his work), Mikey (http://www.xsunderground.com/thechilde/) (not Mikey the Monkey, who happens to be the god I worship, but the "Hello my future girlfriend" Mikey),Arthur Grundy & Andrew Doubleday (http://www.tameside.gov.uk/corpgen/new/councillors/dentonso.htm)(aka Jabba and the geek), Hitoshi (http://www.generation.nl/~hitoshi/)(The "I liek milk" guy), and many, many more!

EDIT: Had to fix some BBcode... I r n00by!

EDIT again: BAH! Curse these lousy hands of mine, only good for one thing, and it sure ain't typing!

Yes, but it's an overweight nerdy guy, twirling a stick pretending to be a Jedi. Thus making him look goofy and leaving me in hysterics!

Only thing funnier (that's relating to Star Wars atleast) was when it was made illegal or something to state on your census form that your religion is "Jedi" or "Jedi Knight", cause so many people have done so. *sniggers at the though of some guy putting "Jedi Knight" on his census form and then going back to comic books, and action figures*

EDIT: I'd fix all the errors I make, but I'm making a statement!

Wow...

I mean, I like Star Wars, and sure, I'm a little bit geeky, but writing "Jedi" as you're religion...

That's a little extreme.

(What about Sith, Dark Jedi, Jensaari and all the other various Force religions...)
