GC: UK GameCube...

ok... ive got a GC, im in the UK and would like to go online... when i get the modem for it... (not sure if the modem is out in the uk yet...or ever will be)

im currently on a network at home, would the network cable fit into the nintendo modem?

Hi, I have a BBA but I think it should be similar to a 56K modem. I connect my BBA to my network card using a RJ45 crossover cable. I use a crossover cable because I'm using ICS I think through a network card on my PC. If you are using a router instead, you will need a RJ45 patch cable instead. They are cheap to buy from http://www.ebuyer.com and once you connect the 2 together, just dial-up to the net on your PC and then set your network settings on PC to automatic. It should work then.

I was told by GAME that you can just plug your GC 56k modem straight to the phone socket but I'm not sure about that.

And which modem are you planning to get? There's an auction on ebay at the moment for a broadband modem (if you have broadband) here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3036192357&category=20389 I got my BBA off ebay for £35 and yes, that is expensive but nearly all shops sell it for £35 and most of them don't bother stocking it anymore. So I could say I was lucky to have got one.
If you need a 56K modem instead (if you don't have broadband), you should be able to pick one up from most stores for about the same price. Try GAME or Gameplay.

As is the Broadband adaptor, although this is a little bit harder to find.

we have broadband... ill look into the adapters and stuff soon. id like to get online to play cos i can off load some of my shitty special weapons i dont want anymore and hopefully get more that i dont have...

My Freeserve thing came with a USB modem, so you'll probably be best off routing your GC through your computer. You'll need a network card, and a BBA, and cables and stuff, I think there's a faq somewhere about it.

Took a while for me to find my BBA, but I got one from http://www.cannings.co.uk dunno if they still have any though.
