View Full Version : XBox: So, this whole renaming thing...

From searching around the boards, it became obvious that some users have been forced to rename their characters when connecting to Xbox Live.

It also seems somewhat certain that your section ID changes to reflect the new name.

It seems less certain what causes the prompt to change your name.

So my questions are obviously:

Does section ID in fact change upon a rename?

What causes the rename? Is it a picky server, or related to bad name feedback?

It would seem logical considering that section ID's are based on name.

Bad name feedback pretty much. Once you have a certain section ID and M$ makes you rename your character your section ID stays the same.

The renaming comes from having a politically incorrect name. That's all I know. So I'm once again very uninformative.

I got banned from Live for one day on my gamertag AGRIV8 U because of too much negative feedback for Bad Name. My nickname is Desert Fox on this and NsK Desert Fox on Wolfenstein... I didn't need to get my name changed.

You can change your name from the Bad Name feedback. It does not change your section ID. I am 100% sure it doesn't change the ID.
