No, it gives you a percentage of your total defense. My RAmarl gains close to 130 defense when near males. I think anyway... i could be smoking crack and did the math wrong though =P.

I too get around 120-130 Defense around male characters. It definately varies. I'm not sure what affects it though.

how long does that effect last after leavin the male?

It goes away immediately if you are out of range.You have to be extremely close to get the bonus within sword swing distance, I'm estimating again. When you get one you can ask the male to stand still and see how short the range is.
