Thank you. Everyone wants to jump to some kind of rediculous terror attack or something every time a fly lands next to them. This happened like at least 4 times allready in recent history. A plant in on place fails, and destabalizes the grid, thus causing all the other plants to fail. I'm on the shore in CT and I still have power, although it may not last much longer, ours flickered but didn't drop entirly.

The first thing I thought of when I heard several citys power grids dropping, was an idiot worker like Homer Simpson spilling his fondu on the terminal and crimpling the system.

They won't blame it on terrorism, you think they'd want to put people in a panic of sorts? No. Plus, at least in the New York area, this has happened twice before in modern times, except the last time was in the 1970s.

As for me, I live in Northern Jersey. I obviously have power, however a town 3 miles away from where I live is without power. Also, I was working at the time it happened (4:10 EDT), and exactly at that time the power in the store I work out went out but then came back on within seconds.

It's all a conspiracy I tell you! The government is after me! Their plan was to cause a massive power outage "on accident" that had "nothing to do with them" so they could find me stranded in a dark alley and take me away! HA! The joke is on them! I told a friend of mine that I would be vacationing in the Northeast this week but I lied! I always suspected him of working for the government! So I say again, HA! Take that FBI, CIA, and NSA! THe D.T.P.A. will not fall before it has risen again! But who is this traitorous friend of mine you ask?

ok, let me explain the mechanics of it, in this house.

When there is power, you turn on the spicket, water comes out, continously until the tank starts going empty, at which point the pump must run by electricity to bring water from the well. However, it can't run for too long, otherwise it needs primed.

When there is no power, you turn on the spicket, and you only have enough water as to what is in the tank. Usually, whatever water is left in the tank, is quickly nabbed and put in containers for drinking water, and it's almost always not enough for a shower.

Thus, no electricity, no shower. Do you undastand? o_O

There's not enough water for a shower, let alone a bath when the power is out. We have a well here for our water, we use a pump in our basement, to get it to the water tank in the basement, and from there, we can use the water for drinking or bathing.

That's ConEd (bless thier slow to react souls) you are referring to. Last I heard, we were blaming it on lightning. Seems to me that either there's something to be hidden, or no one has any clue what's going on.

I just think this is the result of many little mistakes, and now no one wants to say "well we all f*ed up here"...

That's what I first thought when I saw the news last week. I was on vacation, I went up north (I live in Michigan). It hit my house down here in south-eastern Michigan, but I was safe up north on the lake.. Good thing the power was back today, though, when I came home...

That is a stretch. Clever, but kinda funny. I was in Canada for vacation for the past 3 weeks, and the only thing I brought back was a toonie. I like it, and I really wish we Americans would start using more metal dollars. The 1 dollar coin never did catch on much.

I guess it is kinda fun to poke fun at your country. I mean I live in a country where fat people are suing fast food restaurants because they can't stop themselves from eating the fatty stuff. Which is funny. I mean, it's like asking them to make the burgers taste like crap so we won't eat them and get enormous. Sometimes I feel surounded by amazing stupids.

Anyway, this blackout will let us have some neat stories to tell our grandkids...
