From lik-sang.com:

As announced a while back by Infinium Labs, yesterday was the day the unveiled the new console with the name Phantom through video downloads on their web site. It looks like an incredible powerful gaming PC, (or just like the Xbox 2 when looking at the internals), but nothing close a real videogame console powered by Nintendo or Sega innovation. Head over to the official site where you can grab the huge 36MB video downloads while you are browsing Lik-Sang.com. It's remarkable that the unit doesn't come with a CD or DVD drive, games have to be purchased through the network.

Standard Features:

- Fits in any 19" entertainment center
- Custom OS on Windows XPe kernel
- Up to 3.0 GHz processor with 256MB DDR RAM
- High-performance nVidia video card
- High-performance Intel motherboard
- Dolby Digital™ 7.1 Surround Sound
- 100+ Gigabyte internal storage device
- On-board RF wireless modules
- S-Video, RCA or component video and PAL
- 10/100 baseT Ethernet
- 1 wireless controller
- Wireless keyboard and mouse
- 2 USB ports
- 4 controller ports
- 12" Port Extension Cable

I'm so damn confused...what is it exactly?

Does it maximize the current games, or is it going to have it's own?

It's esentially a PC cramed into a console shell, for the lounge room. You buy/rent games over the net, which are downloaded straight into it's HDD for play.

Don't plan on getting one unless you have the cash to burn, RRP is expected to be around the $800 USD mark.

Eww...I think I'll pass...800 is a bit steep. I'll find somebody with one and try it out, or maybe Circuit City will have one on display and hooked up to the internet.

I really thought this idea was promising, but now looking at that steep price tag, all my confidence for it just flew out the window.

Look at the specs and what it can do, I'm surprised it isn't over the 1.5k mark. Seems interesting, have to keep my eye on it. =)

lmao this thing i think will flop

;3 just my opinion

I don't think enough ethernet users are out there that will be totally psyched about this thing. It's based around ethernet and well quite frankly shitloads of people are still restriced to dial up.

$800? The guy say it would be less than $399, marketing guy I think? http://www.gigex.com/phantom/interview.asp Anyways this thing looks intresting, who knows it might even do well, but only time will tell.

This machine is really just ahead of its time. Broadband connectivity already limits the amount of potential customers this maching could have had, and appealing to the hard core gamers alone isn't the smartest move for any company, there's just to few of these people in the game industry.

I really think if Infinium labs could hold off for a few years and release this puppy with better specs and just load up on 3rd party development squads. I filled out a form for preorder on their site, and if I have the cash to pony up when this thing gets released, I have confidence they'll bring at least a couple blowout titles to the table, but then Ill sell it, because this thing isn't going to survive past a half a year if that.
