What exactly is wrong with Stepmania? It's the best DDR simulator out there. Unless you want to give DWI a go. They are like 2nd best, like Arsenal when compared to Man Utd. Good in their own right but not good enough to be the best.

Get the 3.9 version. It's so much better than the 3.0 version. And Magnificent is now higher than Perfect but it is quite easy to achieve, like on the pictures I posted.

It just takes practice and it helps if you know the song. Well, not like the top of your head but you should be able to recognise the beat in all songs. When I play, I don't look at the top but in the middle or even the bottom to see what arrows are coming up so that you can prepare yourself. Then you just press it when you 'feel the beat'. It might help you if you increase the speed on slow songs because the arrows are usually VERY close. Increasing the speed doesn't increase the rate of the song itself, but the arrows are more spaced out and move faster. I normally do songs at least 500bpm these days.

Btw, try Max 300 on Heavy, lol. I used to think it was impossible a few months ago.

I got bored, so I decided to try something new, if not impossible. Yes, I'm talking about LEGENDARY ROAD. 5 of the hardest songs. Back to back. Missing a mere 4 arrows on a single song results in immediate lose. I got about half way through the final song before my hands couldn't move anymore. Stepmania never liked to work on my computer. I always used DWI. I was fairly good at it, I suppose. Best was an AAA on Ba Kkwo Heavy. Good times, there. Heh.
If you really want to play, though, you need to lose your inhibitions and go play DDR. I reccommend learning the Para Para to songs that are on the mix at your local arcade if you can find it, and doing that when people play them while you're waiting. You feel utterly ridiculous, and after that, getting up on the pad doesn't feel as embarrassing. Of course, I never had a problem with that... Heh. I just do Para Para as I know it because it's fun.

Yea, I have the DDR Extreme skin but I can't remember where I got it from. You should try the Para Para Paradise, Pump It Up and Ez2Dancer packages as well, even though it feels wierd playing it on Stepmania. And if you have time and patience, download some of the background movies as well to replace the still background images you have for songs. Makes it more real.

Btw Richard, what are you current favourite songs? Mine are Sakura, V (for Extreme), Tsugaru, Kakumei and Naturally and Connected, both by Ayumi Hamasaki.

And, I currently have 153 songs so far, which most were downloaded by my friend. If there are any specific songs anyone want, I can upload them so that you can download them.

One more thing, NEVER USE THE RELOAD COURSES/SONGS OPTION!!! Even if you are adding new songs, just make sure you put it in the correct folder and Stepmania will automatically search for the songs. I say this because I just stupidly selected that option AND I LOST ALL MY RECORDS. MY TOPS SCORES ARE NOW 000000000 FOR EVERY SINGLE SONG. GONNA HAVE TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN NOW!!! (Thank God I still have the screenshots!). Oh well! Who gives a damn about records. As long as I can pass these songs, I'm happy enough!

Yeah. I got all 18 courses from DDR MAX2 and all 18 courses from DDR EXTREME. But know that you have to already have the songs in the course to play them. For Example, you can't play "insert course here" unless you already have the .mp3 and .dwi files for all the songs in the course.

I use the beatmania IIDX movie backgrounds I got. It's kinda weird using beatmania movies on Stepmania, but it works. I don't have any DDR background movies.
