from the emotional point of view: absolutely no!

but then again, if they save up cash with closing the actually almost unused dc-servers... and lower the HL-fee 1 or 2 bucks.. then i wouldnt mind at all.

anyway. we're not the ones to decide, so... r.i.p. dc-servers.

Yeah RIP, I wouldn't know how many still play DC online so...

on the other hand... wasnt it that only the US servers go down? well then just leave the remote server on and drop all US-players that log on on the EU servers. easy as that.

Here's a better idea, why not remove all access to ver.1 servers and only allow ver.2 users to log in. Finally, allow the US ver.2 users to allow to enter the ver.2 servers free of charge.

It's a bit of a shame that SOA didn't let US users of Ver.2 to log on for free.

v1 and v2 uses the same servers... and i think SOA wants to save some money on the actual server administration, not that they want to get rid of traffic caused by v1-people...

I think they should allow some people to host servers of their own. If Sega thinks there is no more money in PSO DC then what's the deal?

If you played Ultima Online, theres Free Servers all around, so if ya got like..PSO PC, you could set up your own private "Shard" to play on.

I think it should stay. PSO DC has alot of memories behind it.

It means that people with no interest in making money out of the game would set up servers which everyone could use. Maybe they could finance bandwidth cost through donations. Check out the "Ragnarok online" clones too (http://www.asgardonline.net/) they do the same.

Ideal scenario would be Sega helping a little while someone dedicated tries to progrm a server application which could include banning etc. so it would be more easy to administer. I could try do it, but it'd take some while...

if they dc gdrom had server info on it, then you could use a sort of lan tunneling theory but that isnt thte case unfortunately http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Does it even cost them something in the end?

I mean gee, I'm willing to keep paying 15$ per 3 months for as long as PSO will live, and that would mean for a freakin long time, and I'm sure I'm not alone, but I'm not saying there are plenty of people out there like me either. They could cut the servers to just one ship and I wouldn't mind.

the dc servers are already one ship oberon and i think its time for it to end it was fun but no one is left when i logged on only 30 people were on the us server

Personally people don't have to get with anything, its called "thinking for yourself".

If someone is enjoying DC PSO with their friends, then there is nothing wrong with this. People should do what they want to do, in their hearts.

Its a shame that you reference DC pso in such a way....as if YOU'RE with the times? You're just on a different gaming platform than what DC gamers are on, nothing more nothing less.

Hey that is so cool that Dreamcast PSO is still going!! I have a lot of happy memories of that game, and I reckon so do a lot of other people.

I might even try to get online with my DC again then!!

But can I ask a couple of questions??

What do you need to do to get online with your old Dreamcast now?

Are the players on there legits just trying to have fun? Or is it the same mix of dupers and legits that you've got on the cube and xbox? I was kind of thinking that the DC would be a cool place to have a legit game, u c.

Well, thanks to anyone who can help me with those questions http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

If I can get online with the DC, then I might join the community there!! So that might be 31 people on the server, instead of only 30! I loved DC PSO!! loved! I could fancy seeing those old-style, hexagonal graphics again right about now...

I believe that Sega should put down the DC. But at the same time they should also make it so any of the people that hung with the DC should be given some kind of credit time on either the Xbox or Cube version if they decide to stay with PSO. After all those people on the DC have hung with their system for this long. ACE
