Ladies and gentelmen! Today is Sept. 9. And what, pray tell, is so important of Sept 9, you might ask? Four years ago today, my favorit system, the Sega Dreamcast was lanched, bringing with it unbelievible joy! 500 days after its US release, the production of the Dreamcast was ended, finishing the last of Sega's consels.

So on this day, the birthday Dreamcast, I ugre you to get out the controlers and VMSs, invite a couple of friends, and play a round of Samba de Amige, Chu Chu Rockets, or whatever you're into!

Happy 4th birthday Dreamcast!

good idea moo2u!!!

i think id would be a good idea to round up a few mates and go nuts with a soul calibur 1 tournament or dead or alive 2 tag battle or power stone 2.

or rock that shenmue 70 man battle.

speed round sonic adventure again.

drive like a drunken monkey in crazy taxi

go head hunting in head hunter.

......ahhhhh, memories. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

i got my dreamcast 2 months before production was halted, opting for it over a ps2. but i never regretted it!!!

id say long live the dreamcast if it wasn't already dead.

so i'll say the next best thing:

LONG LIVE THE MEMORY OF DREAMCAST!!!!!!

PEACE!!!

I loved my DC. All 3 of them.
My Brother spilt Shampoo on my first and didn't tell me. It then melted from the inside out. Seriousely, I wanderd what that funny smell was for weeks. I could've died!

I took it round a friends house after owning it for like 2 days (second hand though and it was cheap) and his controller killed it. Apparently he got 'this' controller off his friend who's DC had just died. Within minutes it killed His. The guy just blamed it on Coincidence and used it on mine without pointing it out!

I bought another because I was addicted to PSO at the time. Despite the fact I should've given up on owning a working DC ever again.

I may be getting another cheap one off my friend for the hell of it.
I don't wanna know how much money I've 'wasted' (If thats too strong a word) on my Dreamcast(s) but it proves I'm devoted. Not so much any more mind you but... shut up. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Damn, I left my Dreamcast at my boyfriend's house...

I told him to give it a loving pat for me, though. I hope it won't be mad at me for abandoning it there!

Sniff. I still mourn the system. Oh, how I love it so. My drica still gets more use than any of my other consoles do. (Mainly due to Samba de Amigo, these days... SELECT YOUA HEIGHT)

I'll take my Dreamcast to go please!!

Mobile DC, does it get any better then that? I need to get pictures of my freinds DC online. He put a DC in an arcade cabinet then mounted the arcade style joysticks to it. Add in all the bleem emulated games and about 98% of the DC's regular software library. More fun then you know what to do with.

Edit: Btw, http://www.lan-kwei.com makes and sells these babys for 189 bucks. Not too bad for the system, screen, car and home cables, 2 controllers, and a VCD remote huh?

My Dreamcast still gets regular use, though not as much as it used to. It rests comfortably on top of my Xbox right next to the 20" VGA moniter I run all my consoles through. I played a bit of Soul Calibur the other day along with Alien Front Online and Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare. I also bought Typing of the Dead about a week ago just because - well - it's different and original. Well ok.. so the basic game itself is just House of the Dead 2.. but the concept of using a Keyboard instead of a lightgun is novel - and pretty damn fun actually. Plus it's helping me get rid of some bad typing habits so hopefully I can get my WPM over 80 before too long.

I've also been thinking of raising another Seaman as a side project lately.

Least it was fun to take apart afterwards, ive still got bits of it in my room somewhere.

I still love my DC, first console i bought on release date, first console that i owned Import games on, first console i played Online games on and its the console i own the most games for (59 games at the moment, but thats not counting my two extra copies of Chu Chu Rocket).

And i think im the only person who hasnt had to replace their DC over the years, several people i know claim that theirs have died.

Oh yeah, i missed the Soul Calibur Tournament in Switzerland, eventhough i wanted to participate so badly...
My survival record with Nightmare and Mitsurugi is 94 with both of them, too bad i died, i wanted to pass the 100 limit, but with Nightmare i got slammed out of the ring, with Misturugi i honestly cant remember... But its not like its really fun, its boring from 1-60, then you start getting sweaty hands and are a little excited about maybe making a new record, but it takes so long.
Now lets see how good i will be in Soul Calibur 2.
Anyway, long live Sega, long live Dreamcast.
...I feel so sad about the fact Sega wont make any consoles anymore...
sad... real sad...

*waves hand* your not alone, mine has yet to kick the bucket! granted, i've only had it since xmas 2000, but i still think it counts http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif.

that isn't to say that it hasn't tried to end its suffering. the dam thing keeps messing up ever few months, reseting randomly - which when your playing pso and lose your super cool rares can be more than a bitch.

so i keep having to crack her open and work my magic with my screwdriver. which usually involves me just taking it apart, cleaning dust out, tighting wires and sticking her back together.

id just let the old girl die, but i still play her all the time, and she ain't getting out that easily!!!

did i just keep refering to my dreamcast as a she? dam i need help

now that i think about it, every one of my mates who had dc's had some kind of problem with it. and then reading how so many lost theirs.....maybe thats a reason why sega stopped making them. they found out that they where prone to dying and decided to end it before people started to notice. its a consiparcy i tell you http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif!!!!!!! they'll be sending someone over to silence me soon enough.

what was that? OH MY GOD! HELP A GIANT BLUE HEDGEHOG HAS BROKEN IN! HES COMING TOWARDS ME! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....................

I've mostly used my dc to feed my latter day obsession to Dance Dance Revolution... (utilizing boot disk, 2nd mix and a controller adaptor so i can use my ps2 pads)

actually i had about 45 games but ive sold about 15 or so out of broke-ness to get new games...

Mine has yet to die either. Ocassionally, the internal clock messes up and I have to reset it.. and once in a while it won't read disks, so I have to pop open the case and manually reset the lazer.

The latter I think I have PSO v.2 to blame for that. I was constantly jumping in an out of games/lobbies and switching characters. v.2, more than any other game, really put the GDrom lazer through it's paces. Some of you NGC only users don't know how great it is to load up your characters and have all four of them load in 1/8th of the time it took v.2 to just load up ONE character.

Took mine to a friend's house, and I put it on the shelf of a...TV shelf he had. I was on Version 2, online, playing battle mode to show it off, when his clumsy grandma comes in and walks into the phone line, making the poor thing fall one foot into wooden floor.

I freaked out. I had so many friends on PSO! At first it simply didn't respond at all, then I moved the lens mechanism and it sorta started working.

My PSO Ver.2 disc was badly scratched (though, it played fine on another friend's DC). I bought a new one (40 damn bucks), and then the Dreamcast really didn't want to act right: after, what, 10 minutes of playing, it simply refused to load data, if I made it to. For one whole year, I only went on PSO to chat with others...I only played offline, and it was just a bitch to level up in the Ruins...

It's in its last days. Once September 20th or so comes around, my HL for Version 2 will expire, and it'll go in the closet for good.
