GC: F-zero does anyone know how to beat the blood chain gang

OK dam it i've tried and tried but i just can't kill their leader then finish the race. Of course it's easy to just beat him, but damn i only got his car smokin once and i didn't really try to do it. It just happend but he still didn't die then. The asshole, so in short if someone has done this are just knows how by all means please let me know shit. I've beat all the other storys on hard and expert damn it i want new parts..............

You don't need to crash the leader, you just need to smack around his cronies and beat the leader to the finish.
