What does it mean by laps in guides? and when it says starting beat and ending beat, what does that mean?

Laps are how many times you play a level, like completing all of Forest is 1 lap.

The .beat system is the way time is kept in PSO. So the starting and ending .beats are when you start a lap and end a lap. You can see the .beat timer in the lower right hand corner of the screen when you hit Start.
