I would just like you all to know that Danger Girl is in fact.....a girl! *gasps*

Her creator is not however.

Hi! My name is Steven. I created the fictional character Danger Girl. How are you, nice to meet you. I am a 23 year old lad with long hair and blue eyes, and yes, quite male. Apparently some people who can't seperate fiction from reality thought I was carrying on this ruse to far. I'm not sure if they were starting to think I was a wierdo or what. Well I am. But not like in a freaky way. So I thought it would be best if I just came out and said it.

Some of you my be thinking back to some of my past threads and thinking to yourselves "this guy is a flaming homo". Not even close! If you even DARE think that I'm going to have to hurt you. Remember that little cyber drama Spy and I cooked up? You know the one. All romantic and shit. You see Spy knew who I was all along. I mean he's a freaking Spy for christs sake, he figured it out waaay long ago. Well we would sit around messaging each other, reading the boards, and we would be like "God this is boring" so we would cook up ways to try and liven things up a bit. So we experimented with crap like "cyber dramas" or "cyber soaps" for no other reason than the sake of being creative and goofy. It is fiction to us. Like a book or a movie. Just as Danger Girl is a fictional character. She was never meant to be an extension of who I am. Most of you don't need to be told this, but apparently some of you do....from what I've been told anyway. I always tried to keep who I am out of it. It was just funner for me that way. Just as I really don't give a rats ass who you are. When I'm on these boards its an extension of the role playing aspect of the game. When it was brought to my attention that this was an issue, and people were "talking" about it, I just about shit my pants. Hey folks its a VIDEO GAME MESSAGE BOARD for christs sake! I tried to take it a step further by using it as a means to create a little fiction. That's all! Apparently that freaked some people out who knew I was a guy. Well when I was told this I was utterly embarrased. So much so that I was/am thinking of calling it quits. Retiring Danger Girl. And never visiting here again. Who knows this may be my last post. You must understand this is, or perhaps was, a creative writing game for me....and you have to admit, some of it was pretty good. There were days I half expected to get banned for some of the stuff Spy and I cooked up. Hell I've been banned from more message boards than I can count...and thats the truth. I though I found a home here because I though everyone got the idea of what role playing and fiction was about. Saddly now I'm not so sure. So is this goodbye? Hmmm....I'm not sure. I'll sleep on it. Probabily.

And lets be totally honest. Just this once. One last time. Danger Girl is the most beautiful girl on Pioneer 2.

OMG!! This is just like that scene from the crying game!! Acck.. oh the horror... oh the hummanity of it all!

Ok, now that I am finished being dramatic. Let's be honest for a moment here: the vast majority of females on this board are, in fact, owned my males. This is not exactly a shock to the system. (and the fact that Danger_Girl is created by a male is not exactly a huge secret, either).
The problem lies in people who try to carry this fictional game world into their physical lives. Males posing as females characters, or even *gasp* females using male characters is all part of the fictional landscape that we play in. As long as it's not taken too seriously, it is very enjoyable and fun.
Let's face it, the only real problem here is that there are too many of you 12 year olds hitting on these female avatars and you get pissed when you realize it is in fact a guy on the other side of the screen. If most of you would go out and get a living breathing girl friend, this wouldn't bother you so much.

Don't go Danger_Girl... you add much needed attitude and fun to this board. It would not be the same without ya.

Bah - people are goofy that way. I think that a *mild* level of shock is kinda understandable in this scenario because the PSO boards tend to be a confusing hybrid of role played and, I suppose, 'sincere' posts (in that the voice at hand is not that of a character). The nature of the speaker switches around a lot and things get a bit blurry. I have to admit that I assumed you were female simply because of your popularity on the board (heh)... Female gamers are still fairly rare, and those entrenched in game communities are refreshing additions to the landscape. Hey, I just wanna give props to all the real life girlies out there proving that this isn't entirely a lame-arsed boys club.

I agree, however, it's really annoying to get slack over this stuff, especially in game where you are more overtly * playing a character *. Geez, avatars aren't exactly a new concept, yet I get 'fudge packer' quips thrown at me whenever I make the mistake of letting it out that I'm another schmoe in the same male, early-mid 20's demographic as 90% of the other people online. I started considering excuses for myself like "oh, well I made a female char. cuz she's hot!", but I don't need to justify anything to some 'swipe slandering me, 12-year-old-hick style. He is my PSO identity - I've experimented with a couple of others so far - but they just don't hold the appeal as of yet - and my identity on all of the PSO sites I frequent. I have many other identities, none of which are of any concern here, but are a further excuse for me to come out of my shell as it were. Hmm. That sounds a little like I'm some sociopathic freak...
but I'm not, I'm just your average member of the online 20's male demographic.
I (and I believe everybody else) have to 'let off' certain aspects of my personality online, as frankly, if I behaved like Fargo in real life - ie: wasting the local wildlife with a sword twice my size and the attitude of Dirty Harry on a very bad day, whilst mumbling bastardized versions of Keat's poetry to suit my present surroundings and um, feats of agility, er, I probably wouldn't be able to type right now - straight jackets are such a strain...
However, here (and on PSO) I am at perfect liberty to behave however I see fit, so long as I don't piss too many people off and avoid angering the moderator.

*phew* therefore, at the end of that rather long and insufferable rant, I'd just like to say to Steven aka Danger Girl - don't go. You make this place more interesting, and yes, I can tell a drama when I see one, but I also enjoy it for what it is. You've put a smile on my face on more than a few occasions, and it would be a real shame to see you go.
Hope you realise how many others here would be sorry too.

I think Danger_girl Rocks! I hope you won't be leaving this msg board anytime soon. This place would be a whole lot less "interesting" without Danger_girl's presence. (^_^)

I would like to add that this is the first message board that I have consistently posted on. I joined the board to meet and play with some cool PSO players. Lets keep this site a FUN place to read and post on people. Danger_girl or Steven, should not have to put up with alot of crap for wanting to liven up a message board. I thought Danger_girl was a girl as well, SO?

Harm to me for finding out Danger_girl was a guy = a surprised look on my face! (Oh the horror!)

This whole thing is stupid. The more I think about the conversation I had this morning, the more pissed off I get. This is a MESSAGE BOARD!!! You tell your freinds (not my friends by the way) that they sould open thier eyes and see it for what it is. And maybe you should to. You know who you are.

I've spent the past several hours looking for a new home. Trouble is they all suck ass. Despite its slow load time, and how pissed off I am at some of the individuals here, I really like this place. Plus work is to Goddamned boring. And so are these boards without Danger Girl.

Well, I for one am glad that Danger Girl, aka Steven is staying. ^_^ Doesn't matter what gender, Steven/DG is a PSO fanatic, and according to many, one of the best team and role players. ^_^

I've gone under quite a number of identities on the 'Net, and I have to say IceBlink is one of my favorites. Why? I don't fit up to it, because I melt too easily. ^_^;;

Heee... so, Danger Girl-san, we're still up for a game on Saturday? ^_^

Yeah, I'll be on 2night. Gotta get me hair cut after work, but I'll probably be on around 8ish onwards until the small hours. I live in Bermondsey meself (Saaaaaaarf London), but I used to work in Wood Green, quite near U I would imagine.

Last months phone bill had about 60 quids worth of PSO playing - I think that was about 100 hours. I'm on NTL so I can't do BT Surftime.

As to who I really am, well... Say hey to Matt! I'm a withdrawn kinda guy that laughs out loud at shit like sports, "working out", and most of all, school. My RL friends are in the few (but then again so are the really smart folks out there) and I would gladly take a bullet for em'. I'm probibly the only person in my highschool that got away with telling the principal that she was a fucking idiot and to take her championship football team and have them congest her rectum.

Actually, I take that back. I'm not withdrawn at all, and I have enough one-liners to make Bruce Campbell(who's my role-model) to tell me to STFU.

I should have known. ^^;; As a rule, real females do not go around calling themselves The Most Beautiful Girl on... anywhere. ^^; Aside from the fact that most of us *aren't* that beautiful (or at least don't think we are), society expects us to be all modest and demure and such. :P (It's that double standard-- as I heard it phrased somewhere else: If a man stands up for himself, he's assertive; if a woman stands up for herself, she's a... you know, that expletive in Sciler's sig. --;)

I had previously given DG props for being an exception - for having the guts to throw convention out the window and be herself... and now it turns out that it's not herself at all. It's just some post-adolescent male who likes to trick people when he's bored. How disappointing. :/

At least we still have Sciler. May she never change. ^^;

hhmmm..i feel awkward talking about myself, makes me feel somewhat conseeded...and those are the types of people i goto school with, and despise evrry day in my bitterness at the world....
But hey, i'm Mike, i like to be as nice and polite to people as possibly, before they push me to the breaking bpoint that is. I'm somehwta hot-headed, im sorry, idiots just piss the bejesus outa me.
I love laughing, i can't get enough of it...i love making people laugh as well...it also makes me seem idiotic...but..anything for a laugh is my motto.
I'm usualy depressed all the time,bad family connection, morons at school, life, so i don't like taking people down with me, so i try to brighten their day.
I love video games and PSO. My hobby is drawing my fictional characters, and making stories in hopes that one day i might have a chance to incorporate them into my career.
I want to be a character designer for some video game co.

Well i just read all of these 5 pages of posts, and i'd just like to say, i'm happy ya stayed DG, i always had a suspicious feelin bout you not bein female, you seemed too roudy, then again i guess that doesn't say much, anyhow, if you woulda left i would have been forced to forever bug your brother, and annoy him to death, but either way, glad you stayed, wouldn't have been the same w/out ya, i mean...i need a partner in dying, mr soul banish drains vash's life to be swatted down in one hit, it sucks lying dead on the battle field alone, glad to hear yer stayin!
