There are a lot newer versions of forum/boards out there. I think it wouldn't hurt for an update. What do you think?

http://www.invisionboard.com

This is the forum set up I am seeing more and more profesional sites starting to use.

We could use geocities for the new guides area too!

Ok, but seriously, this site has been pretty much rewritten from the ground up to be implemented seamlessly with its other counterparts and that has taken quite alot of manhours and I say this from having given those manhours! So, no I don't think I'll ever really be concidering a update.

As it is I have updated our forum software quite alot in my time here to give the users features from other newer sites that they'd like on here, and even features that newer boards don't even have.

I mean even just today I just implemented a new character profile search for the characters within the user profiles. A new forum would actually render our whole profile database extinct. A update would actually require THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of lines of recoding. Some of you might not think that, but this forum was based on a very old version of software in which the new versions look nothing alike. So there is no such thing as a update that this site can recieve it can only be wiped clean and restarted, which oh boy I sure am never gonna do, ever ever ever.

Yeah yeah. And I truely respect that.
I just know of better forum designs {NO OFFENCE}

Example:
My new clan forum {kinda not big yet but...}

well no matter the design, we'd be losing a lot of functions and enhaced features that we simple cannot have with the other forum software. for example, the link to team center. it's simply not feasible. i'll take functionality and security any day over what looks better.

and yes everyone here, all the staffers, do it on their own free time. no one's paid

I've used every message board software there is and Invisionboard is now that much better than this one. Infact all PHP-based boards not basically have the same coding makeup. Even if he did convert this over, it would be apparent rather quickly that it was all a waste of time.

And this version of phpbb is currenly the OLDEST version of this forum software. It must be very good for it to withstand this many posts, and other data that was added to the scripts. So I say, what works best for you, you should stick with for good.

And invisiobfree is a service to HOST invisionboards. It's not a very good service to have if having a large community is your intention.
