I got exactly halfway through shading this thing and life intervened. : Oh well. This is a good study to show off what a picture looks like right in the middle of the CG shading process.

Oh yeah, I have getintothegame to thank for the background. For the longest time I was scouring the 'net for a simple blue hexagonal PSO background and eventually stumbled up this nice patternable one that PSOW's resident Nose Picker (?!) created. I rescaled it, smoothed it out, and tweaked the contrast a bit. When I finish the main shading, I'd like to add a drop shadow.

P.S. Anyone have any tips for how to handle saber effects?

quite cool indeed!!

it looks really well!!!

there would be only one comment i could make, and that is that the saber doesn't look as..whats the word..'flashy' as it could.

but it still looks great flux!!

Very nice! I'm sorry I don't have any Painter/Photoshop tips to make the saber cool ;-;.

Glow is my bro's favourite effect. I think, what you can do is add in a smaller same-shaped white, or really light yellow saber in the middle of the original saber. Then gaussian-blur it. Tweak the blur until you have gotten the right kinda glow. .... Yeah, that's about it. =D

I like the unfinishedness. +D All pics should be posted this way! =D

I like it, I dont know much about art but if you make the saber brighter in the middle and darker outwards it would make a glowing affect that i think would look good http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Nice!
btw, if u are usin Paint shop pro, use:
"increase rgb brightness" with hardness at 0 then just use on the saber in the middle until u like it

With/o psp

make it like this:

or when done copy and paste the saber part and put it on the finished drawing and give me some credit!

That looks f-ing cool Cerris! I use Adobe Photoshop 7.0, so I'd have to play with it. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif I'll try navi's advice...um, when I get around to working on that picture again. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif Thanks for the comments!

Very nice pic. His face looks a bit...young though. As in teenager young. Still, I can't complain. Very, very nice art.

That's kind of funny that you say that because this character usually has a goatee that makes him look more his age. For example (http://vcl.ctrl-c.liu.se/vcl/Artists/Sara-Steege/Humans/SolinSnap_Color.jpg)...
