I'm not so sure how much of an 'error' it is.. seeing as if you pronounce "Garon" with a correct Japanese accent, there's a good chance English ears will pick it up as "Gallon" (Japanese "r"s often sound like "l"s to us)
They're pretty much the same pronounciation, so it's more of an inconsistancy than an error.
