new stock in the shops?!

Something odd and very cool happened to me in PSO today. I finally completed my set of CUSTOM ver.00 gear (ray, frame, and barrier) and was heading over to the shops to sell some junk when, surprisingly, they said something about Team XX and had some new stuff up for sale. I made a vidcap in case I could never get it to happen again.

Interestingly, the Arms shop didn't have much new stuff. Maybe you have to do something with WEAPON or DB gear to unlock their better stock. Who knows.

I have no idea about whether or not the shop claim is valid, but there are Hunter Walls, Force Walls, and Ranger Walls. They're shields rather than armor. That cheat site with all the codes probably has them listed to confirm this (cgmscs or whatever it is).

Jesus Christ. Mik isn't lying. Rhete, there IS a such thing as a HUNTER WALL, FORCE WALL, and RANGER WALL. There are also FIELDS. I'm not sure about the picture being doctored or video edited. But I totally believe he's telling the truth. Just because some of you haven't found these items, they do exist. I have the majority of these items that were listed in his shop. I'm missing the CUSTOM BARRIER, but once I get it, I will confirm this for you guys. I have both the RAY and FRAME. Anyways, good work Mik. btw i have a real force wall and it sells for about 3000 give or take a few hundred at the store.

also i dont get why combat gear is 0...and can't seem to pause the window the second time u pass over it :/

as for the image being doctored or whatever, it seems really clear, and would be pretty hard to change around the font or whatever, since its transparent over the guy that sells the stuff...

BTW, you can get Hunter/Force/Ranger/Attribute Walls from Death Gunners (the rare version of Dark Gunner).

As for that comment about "no sound" pheh, that's easy to take out of a clip. But I do agree, I think it's fake... It does looks fairly real... but hey, A person with high adobe photoshop experience can doctor a picture damn well. And a person with high adobe premiere experience can doctor a video clip damn well also. Considering that it's only text that has to be modified for the clip...

Heh. Glad you guys had fun with the video and pic. It was an April Fools joke all the way but it did have some elements of truth along with a healthy dose of BS. I'll try to give answers to all the speculation.

For starters, neither the pic, nor the video were doctored in any way save to compress them to a reasonable form for download. Secondly, there is no such thing as Team XX and there aren't any hidden shops that you can access after acquiring certain types of gear. My story of how I gained access to the new stock was completely fabricated. I just thought it'd be fun to give you guys something to think about on April 1st especially since it landed on a Sunday this year.

Now, on to what's real. Everything I posted actually happened in an offline game. It is 100% reproducible. In fact, piping back to town gives different gear too. Perfect/Resists, a full assortment of Parasite Wear, high level Grants/Megid, and even some good weapons like the Silence Claw and Magical Piece have appeared for me. I would not be the least bit surprised if a lavis cannon or real agito would show up before too long. All items bought from the shops were completely legitimate as well and usable both online as well as off.

How did I do it? Well, technically, anyone could do it but it took me a little while to plan and figure out. All I'll say is that this is not a normal feature of the game and will absolutely never ever happen for you no matter what gear you've found. It probably can be accomplished with a Game Shark or similar device but that's not how I did it. It wasn't a fluke either. I set out specifically to accomplish this goal about two weeks ago in my spare time. It's a very satisfying feeling pulling off something like this. My main inspiration came from Nick Rox's excellent Final Fantasy Gaiden video from a few years ago. He got me pretty good for a few hours and didn't I feel like the fool afterwards http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif Still, isn't that how a good April Fools joke is supposed to play out?

Finally, for those of you who are going to say I'm a cheater or whatever, you can rest easy. I don't trade with anyone. Heck, I don't even use these items online. Doing so would detract not only from everybody else's enjoyment of the game but also from mine. I'm not going to reveal the specifics of what I did nor even the general idea. I suppose if Sonic Team wants to prevent this sort of thing from happening in PSOv2 and PSO2, I'll be glad to explain it to them if they contact me but otherwise, as far as I'm concerned, this is the last I'll talk about it publicly.

By the way, I noticed a couple of you guys thought my screencap was totally faked. In fact it's completely authentic. I used the open-sourced and very cool dTV (http://deinterlace.sourceforge.net) to take the clean high-res shot from an svideo input. I was running it in Greedy/Low Motion deinterlace mode. It reproduces a perfect image and is great for capturing high res screens.
