Sanrio refused to give Kitty a mouth for a precise reason: without a mouth, she has no facial expression, so the reader/owner can decide whether Kitty is happy, sad or whatever (Neko's crappy Engrish >_>;;;).

I guess in those pictures she has a mouth because those are taken from the animated series.

IMO, she looks less scary with the mouth. >_>;

uh..to be honest, I've never been a fan of Hello Kitty, but, I've seen it so often without a mouth, that the pics with a mouth freaked me out.

I mean, the no mouth is like a signature of Hello Kitty, and part of what made it stand out...atleast to me.
