I knew that those pictures were from an early version because there is no way that a GA would be in forest, along with a hildebear in Forest 1!

EDIT: You can also tell its from the DC version because the characters have spot shadows, not actual shadows that are accurate to their shape.

That first shot is on the dreamcast console box as well. The box was from the second Dreamcast I purchased, so the art/layout may have changed from the earlier version.

Those two screen shots at top are indeed from before the Dreamcast days. They're promotional screenshots that Sonic Team distributed more or less as an example. You'll notice that the camera seems to be following the RAmar, but there's no HUD. This is a developer's screenshot, indeed.
