C-Mode De Rol Le

I've searched the forum but couldn't find it but I apologise if this has been raised many times before.

Is it still possible to avoid De Rol Le's laser (when he stands up on his tail) by standing at the far edge of the raft in the GC/Xbox versions of C-mode?

not in my experience... and the guides here say no as well... this means you have to dodge it by running (which isn't too difficult).
