Erm... I suppose its quite reasonable for a first attempt. A suggestion though, the character looks a little 'flat' instead of coming out of the page.
If you read any comics you may want to study your favourite artist's work for idea.

What ever you do, never give up!

Oh, it's not bad. Seems a little flat and polygonal, but still it's a first try!

I think you might be following the gemometric figure too closely...

I do like the way the sword looks though. It does actually seem 3d, the foreshortened handle.

pretty good considering it's a first try...

but the shoulders look as if they pop out with the shoulder pads like that... http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif just a little helpful Criticism http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

It's honestly not bad for a first attempt. I think the suggestion of looking at your favourite artist's work for inspiration is a good idea... I learned to draw by looking at art by various artists (mostly Akira Toriyama, Naoko Takeuchi, Fuyumi Soryo and CLAMP). There are also some good books about drawing Anime and Gaming Characters you might like to look through (if you can find them... They're harder to find than the How to Draw Manga books, but more helpful, I think).

Aw, cute. Sorry if that offended you. And the sword is awesome-looking.

Final piece of advice from me. If you are serious about drawing or want to improve your skills then you have to draw constantly. Whenever you have free time, draw something (as long as it does not interfere with PSO ^_^). Draw real-life objects, copy from magazines/comics/cartoons, make up stuff. The more you draw the stronger you become.

And above all, have fun!
