Sinking Feeling (Finding Rares Post)

It's a long day ahead of me, so what else better to do than to bust out PSO and search for those old rares? Thus, this is exactly what I did. I decided to play the mines first (Oran BTW, lvl 95 at the time). Not too far in, MINES 1, I cleared an entire room, and found two ?SPECIAL WEAPON sword - type weapons. Not thinking too much about it, I checked the stats, and the first one I checked had a required ATP of 235 - a double saber, which it was, no doubt. I proceeded to check the other - same thing? That's right - I found two double sabers in the same room - and this is where I got my sinking feeling. Was it really worth playing anymore? Had I used up all of my luck all in the same room? Sure enough, the only thing I found remotely rare was a God/Power in the ruins, and absolute crap for the bosses of the mines and the ruins.

So can you only be so lucky during one play through? Also, curious: Does play time effect what you find, provided you open the boxes / kill the enemy?

Just had to get this out of me =)

ALSO! Does playing online score you better finds than playing offline? I play offline most of the time, access to a phone line is limited.

Personally when I find one rare item I generally find a couple more. When I find something I decide it's a 'good game' and keep going. I dunno, it's just a luck thing, don't think there's any preprogrammed amount of stuff you can find in one go.
Some items have a better chance appearing offline or online.

A lot of people think that playing online improves your chances, but I've had better luck offline, myself. It's probably random... except insofar as playing online gives you more enemies, and therefore more item drops. ^^;

i find most of my good rares offline. two days ago i found megid lvls 7 and 10 and also grants lvl 6(twice) and 10. that was all in one trip through the mines on vh. not to mention all the rares i already have. double saber, gae bolg, etc. never know when u r gonna have a good day. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif

I found all my best items when I first started on v.hard funnily enough and now I can no longer find anything new. When going online try playing in different section ID's as apparantly you are more likely to get something new.

It all really depends on how you play, as to where and when you find rares. Some of the best rares I found were online, however I find twice as many "common" rares in an equal amount offline, however consider that I play a LOT more offline that I do online. I've heard of certain rares than can only be gotten online, when created by a character of the appropriate SecId. But as for luck, the only luck that affects your chances of finding rares is your own, not your character's.

Trust me, I find plenty of common rares... why today, on one of my run throughs of VH Ruins, I made 400k off of selling em - and that's not even all of them, I dropped a bunch according to stat requirements and generic looks of the weapon. What I think I'm looking for is, where are all the State/Maintenances, the God/Battles, etc? In 170 hours, I haven't seen ONE Al Rappy, ONE Nar Lily, or ONE Poulilly Slime. The only rare monster I've seen was a Hildeblue on HARD, he dropped money. Drat.

I guess I'll keep playing (level 99 now, damn exp requirement jumped sky high!) until I find my Spread Needle or my Chain Sawd... until then - KEEP IN TOUCH!

The only good rare I found was a double saber on ruins normal, offline. That came as a slight shock, but other than that, nothing great, online or off. A couple of god/arm and an angel/mind+, the odd crush bullet and a pair of knuckles. haven't found many rares but last night I found 3 double sabres on vhard offline in mines. Seems like the DC just randomly picks a 'lucky rares day'

TO ADD TO THAT...IT DOES GET KINDA WEIRD WHEN YOU START FINDING A CRAP LOAD OF SABERS/SWORDS(ALL 4STAR+)
IN A SINGLE RUNNING WHEN YOU SHOULDN'T BE GETTING ALOT BECAUSE OF YOUR I.D. RESTRICTION(BLUEFULL).

Yea..I find good rares all the time.....NOT.. rares come to me like memories..and I tell you this, I don't have good memories..you do the math..
