FanArt: WIP: Hikara

PLEASE NOTE: This is not finished!!

I've gotten stuck on this sketch, and would like some input as to what he should be doing with his right hand... I've tried a few things, but didn't like them. I'll most likely check this thread again later tonight and in the morning, and since I'll be gone most of the day, I'll try out any ideas I get back on this.

BTW, this is the first piece in a while I've done that wasn't a request... Thankies to everyone I've put on hold because I needed to do a drawing for myself (Methinks that would be Kafka, Sarunakai and Hunewearl_Meira...).

EDIT: Forgot to mention, this is Hikara from the story Protectorate of Light, which is awesome and you should read if you haven't.

EDIT 2: Changed the title, because I finished the lineart. It's posted below.

EDIT 3: Changed the title again because Hikara is done now, and I just need to finish the background.

Um, what to the with the hand... He could be holding a grants ball or something, shiny-like energy thing... Or a weapon or something... But it looks most like he is conjuring up a spell of some sort...

The unnamed figure stood. The desk lamp had been knocked to the ground, and now all about him was dark, save for the holographic monitor. He was not impaired, however. Sight was not necessary. He continued in silence.

Hmm. Two things. His other arm can be glowing of some sort, as everyone else suggested.
I would also suggest if it zooms into his upperbody instead of the whole body, it just makes the focus on HIkara much, much more... focused. ... Yes I am poor with words. =P

Hey, Navi's got an idea there. The lower half seems slightly blank, if you know what I mean... Actually, i'm not sure I even looked at the bottom very much at all. If you cut it off a little below the waist, then it seems less spacey, and still as stunning...

But then, since it's not finished, you might be planning to work down there anyway.

thats nothing, i've put caffinated mints in pop, where 3 of the mints have the equivalent of the amount of caffeine thats ina can of pop, this is spam isnt it....crap...well, stuff makes me hyper, so, uh, yeah...anyways, thats a good drawing, you could just make his right arm do a lot of things and still have a good drawing there...better than i can ever do, lol

I went with the first suggestion, because I overslept and didn't have time to check for other ideas this morning... Sorry guys, but thanks for the awesome ideas! I may use them in the future...

Anyhoo, I got my first set of Pigma Micron pens, and I'm inking the sketch right now. (Why on earth can no art stores in town sell those drawing pens, and yet my aunt's new quilt shop does?)

Done with my new pens (01, 03 and 05). Oh, and Lady Red Comet made me buy a brown pen too, so I can do sketches in pen that's the exact same colour as the hideous sanguine conte. Just so anyone who's interested knows.

Hmmm, just my opinion but may the out stretched hand should be orientated the other way, namely fingers upwards... Unless the FOmar was collecting energy into a ball.

Hehe, it isn't really my fault the bottom of the outfit looks lacking in detail compared to the top - blame the character designer. *g* At any rate, it'll look better in colour because I'll actually add in the wrinkles of the fabric to balance the piece. It's not done yet! *cries* I promise I'm working on it... *points to coloured pencils everywhere* When it takes nine coloured pencils to get the right blue shades, it takes a while!

Well, I finished colouring Hikara himself... Now I just have to finish up the background and grab some pastels for the grants ball that he'll have when it's finished... Yes, sadly, I did use nine different pencils (six blues, two greys and black) for the blue areas of his uniform...

Oh, and my computer art/art metals teacher has informed me that the only way to get my paper to stop wrinkling is to get better paper... Luckily, it's not too much of a problem on this pic. But if it still bothers me when I'm finished, my teacher will let me use the iron in the photography room during computer art to flatten it. *G* Ah, the joys of being friends with the computer art teacher.

Lol, glad you like it! The background will be finished in the next couple of days, depending on how much I actually have to do at school (I work on my drawings a lot at school as opposed to at home). If I don't do a lot in class because we're off after tomorrow, it'll probably be finished tomorrow. And I haven't decided whether I'm just going to do the background in pastel or not.

Methinks I will do the background in pastels. Sorry people, I'm sure my parents would appreciate it if my AP Drawing came first, so the bg will be finished once I am done with my project for that class (which was, technically, due today and I'm just over half done...). Since I only have one opportunity to wash my hands after this hour, next hour will be the only hour I can work on anything with pastels, so if my teacher doesn't mind, I'll be working on AP Drawing during the video. Then, I'll probably start Sarunakai's pic. Just in case anyone was wondering what I'm doing art-wise. Which you probably weren't.

Heh, I almost got around to doing the backround an hour ago when I was working on my AP Drawing thing... But my hands were so filthy and covered in pastel that I couldn't take it, didn't finish my project and didn't start on Hikara's background. *sheepish grin*
