I have a geforce4 Ti4600 w/s-video in/out. I want to be able to play gamecube games in high res on my monitor, what do I need? A vga converter, or can I simply use an s-vid cable? Any recommended setups?

thats a descent card, I had one for awhile too http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif Anyway you can use a standard s-video cable that will run from your GC to the s-video in port on your videocard.

there will be no change in resolution at all, tho.. it'll still be s-video quality.

what you can do is getting a progressive scan (YUV) cable, and modify it (requires soldering skills) for VGA.. it will only work with US and JP games that support progressive scan.

VGA boxes exist for the gamecube, one end plugs into your gamecube, the other has a conection for a monitor (VGA).
although the picture quality wont be much of an improvement, as the gamecube doesnt output VGA quality video ( the only console to do this without modding is the dreamcast)

Or if you've got the spare cash, buy one of these babies:

http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/XRGB-2P.html?id=ZQZVUFfE

Takes component, RGB, s-video or video signals from any source you want and upscans to 1024x768, V60Hz, H47Hz for display on a VGA monitor http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif.
