why is it that when i put my pic in my sig, its deleted?
all im doing is adding a screenshot, yet i see people with 2 or even 3.

well, after looking...
all PSO screenshots are: 256 x 192
the forum rules allow: 600 x 180
ok, for a PSO site, not allowing screenshots from the game is rather dumb. ;/

those people

a)resized the screenshots
b)put in their own screenshots (resized)

just resize it and host it somewhere and you can use it

well, im gonna ask this not expecting it to be answered. why is the sig limit what it is now? why were those numbers chosen as the size?

The width I know. The 600 is barely able to fit properly without having to scroll over when someone is in 1024x768 pixels (don't know about other sizes) with AIM open, which many people use.

Exactly, the sig limits were chosen to reduce having to scroll through sigs that were too big. 600x180 is a fair size for a mere sig. Also take into consideration the file size, it can't be any larger than 35000 bytes.

why is the file size limit 35000 bytes?

ill assume its something to do with the space you have in the cashe memory or db to keep everything running smoothly :S

The PSO Screenshot size is exceeding the height limit of 180px, though.

No, it's because if alot of users have sigs, and each sig exceeds a set size limit, thats a lot to load on each page of a thread just because of the sigs. Thus, the 35000 byte limit. Just cuts down on page loading for everyone.

if i was on a... let's say UT2003 site, do you think they would want everybody to have a 1024x768 screenshot in their sig? zane looks like he's gonna help you out, but this is one of those things that isn't gonna change so you just have to accept it

I got your point, but it's moot because the sig limits are set, as they have been for quite a while. Really, it's not that hard to put the image in an editor and resize it, or ask someone on the forum to do it for you. =

well i guess some of what i wrote could be salvaged, the bit about keeping things running smoothly would be correct. so its set at 35000 bytes, so the forums run smoothly http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

there are ways of changing the size of you picture with html, but your picture has to be put into your sin using html code, so that the reszing code can take effect. i think thats how it works. whereas the html resize code doesnt work with BBcode, thus problems like this can arise. ill give you a little demonstaration if i can remember what i learned in IT :S

Ok i cant remember, well i can, but html doesnt want to work, i remember my first sig being in html, because prof frink sorted it for me, and it has <img src...... in it, so im confused and annoyed at how this isnt working. im sure someone can sort it for you.

If Abdur did it, then why is your sig dead? Mine died, and so did shattered's. It seems if the sig is exactly on the limits, it dies. What's up with that? And Abdur still has his, and his is the same size as ours. Just wondering.

The sig I gave her was within the limits, but if you add a 15pixel little fresh kills banner, or some text, that would be over the sig limits.

Because you had a line of text on top of it, saying how the sig before it wasn't too big, even though it was.

If you're going to have a 180 sig pic, you can't have any text, because the text is included in the 180.

Put the image back in and all will be well then.

I've had to fix over 10 sigs today alone, and quite afew of them by the same people because they kept doing the same thing over and over.

Just take it as a last offense for the sig.

hey, they said mine was too big when it was 2 pixels over, so i really have no sympathy for your 12. and just listen...do not try to fight the system, or the system will fight back.

Yeah, real nice, 230kbs there.

It has to be under 35000bytes, 600x180 pixels. You just need to compress it down.

Actually, you have it as a .png file. Save it as a .jpeg and make sure it's compressed down to within the limits. If you don't know how to do this, ask someone on the forum.
