Hello all. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong board, haven't been here in ages!

Basically, I am thinking of buying a pre-owned copy of PSO Ep. 1 & 2 for my Gamecube. What I would like to ask you more knowledgable people is this: is there any way of re-registering the access code and password you get with the game, so you can play it online if you've bought a pre-owned version?

I live in the UK, if that makes any difference! Thanks for the help beforehand... http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Should be in Tech Support, but the mods will move it for you.

I think that you have to call up Sega and ask for a new set of numbers and say that you got it pre-owned.

Thanks! I suspected this was the case, but I have no idea where to look for these contact numbers. Just been through the PSO mini-site and Sega.com and I couldn't find anything about it. Do I just basically e-mail them and they will sort it out for me?

I don't really want to get the game if I'm stuck offline with it...would buy a full copy, but I haven't seen any where I live for quite a while. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

You wont need new numbers or anything. The pre-owned game will work in any GC regardless of whether or not they registered it. GC doesn't have an internal memory to save the info like the DC did.

But I still have to contact Sega to buy a Hunter's License, and I won't have a new copy of the game. On the website you use to get a Hunter's License (https://www.playsega.com), you have to enter your serial number etc. to register as a new player. Won't it give me a "this code is already registered" error when I try to put the pre-owned code in?

I think I might just e-mail them to make sure, but I can't find the right contact details.

Yeah, I e-mailed them and they sent a reply totally unrelated to what I asked them. I got a friend to ask the same thing, but in a slightly different way and someone else replied. Still didn't give us a definate "yes" or "no" answer, so we're just going to try and see if it works on our own.

To be honest, I thought something like the DC system of allocating new codes to "pre-owned" owners would be in operation, but it seems it isn't. We were told they weren't allowed to do this for the Gamecube for some reason...

Not entirely sure about the Xbox version and how that works for pre-owned copies, but surely they anticipated some people would sell the game after playing it a while and that someone else would buy it?? Anyway, wish us good luck...we're gonna try it online soon.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Now I'm scared!

*looks around wildly*

They only have pre-owned copies here! I can't find new ones!!! WAAAAHHHHHH!! And what's worse, the sega numbers don't work here, so I have no-one to call...so.... I...I...I CAN'T GO ONLINE!

*Cries*

I hate them. they think they don't have a market here... if only they knew......
*Thinks of many ways to destroy Sega's empire and bring it toppling to the ground*

But seriously, I really don't think its fair...

Hmm... online shopping, eh? *rubs chin thoughtfully*
I've never done that before... so here's the plan:

Since i live far from any EB's (the only video hame store in Australia, BTW) I've forced someone to take me there on tuesday (Day after tomorrow). There's a big retail store there, so I should be able to find it. If I do, all is well, If I don't, online shopping it is.

I look forward to meeting you all online! *hopefully*

Well, I was extremely lucky in that the previous owner of our pre-owned game hadn't gone online with it. So we got 30 days free and everything!!

Seriously, this game is getting harder to find now. I can't find any new ones in the shops round here at all. It reminds me of the great adventure I had trying to find a copy of PSO v2 for Dreamcast...but, so worth the time and effort it took me to get it. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Hmm... actually, I never thought of that.
Mayhap the last owner did not utilise the game's wonderfull online-ness? Mayhap it is still able to go on the net!

I think this because here in Australia, I do not think many people would even *consider* going online. Although i know one of you is, i doubt there would be many others.

Tiamat, you have given me new hope! Even though I have despaired, since our little outing to Frankston (the department store place) has been delayed yet again (Not tomorrow, but the day after!)

Thanks!
