Lookit the colorful letters!

First of all, please forgive me if I put this in the wrong forum. I guessed as best I could.
Anyways, my boyfriend and I have been playing a friend's copy of PSO since I signed up here. He got his copy not long after the game first came out. Just the other day, we were finally able to get our own copy. Now, in quests, certain words and names are shown in color. For example, he just completed the Retired Hunter quest, and the reward was shown as such: 25000 was printed in blue, and Meseta was printed in green. We never saw that before, so I was wondering if it's just a newer version of the game with some alterations to it, maybe?

ah, those pretty colored text for meseta..
i think they don't have any real effect in the game as far as im concern
the colors are probably for look only..& they seem appear more often in higher difficulties

I'd say it's just ST being cute. Oddly enough people used to use cheat devices on the Dreamcast version to talk in different text colors. Boy did that get annoying fast. Thankfully I haven't seen anyone do that on the GC version... yet.
