Just out of interest, has anyone actually powered off by accident when saving? My friend, being a complete dumbass, powered off with the phrase 'what does this button do?'. He actually didn't know, the silly boy, and it completely erased all my characters, including a lvl 80 hucaseal with lots of items. I wasn't too impressed, although I still couldn't stop laughing http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

My sister unplugged my Gamecube while I was busy getting my Character off of my friends memcard (Split Screen play). Lost a memcard with 3 lvl 110 characters (HUmar, RAcast, FOmar) with many weapons and items. The total losses counted up to be on roughly 6 pages on a 14 point font. (Counting as a list, thank you.) I haven't seen most of those weapons and armors since then. Shit happens, and when it does, it sucks.

I was playing online around my friends house a while ago (we were sharing a room with two xboxes, and two tv's). Well when he finshed he got up and turned my Xbox off by accident! I lost all my items except for the sword i had equipped!! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif (luckily i hadn't been playing long and not a huge amount of it was rare)

xbox is pretty safe...there are some pretty horifying things you can do to screw you on the gamecube though

ah power off while saving?
this is where ignorance is not bliss, it's damnation!

my pals, bros or cuzs play my games,
but they don't touch my systems unless i tell 'em to
edu-ma-cate them, so there is less agony in the future http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Powering off whilst saving effects any console.

When you power off while saving on your xbox, you just lose all unequipped stuff. You dont lose your characters or equiped items.

Well that would still suck ass though. I haven't seen or heard anyone being this stupid, except one of my friends who played a long while with a friend (GameCube Multi-Mode) and forgot to save http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif The n00b http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif He said that it was so normal for the game to autosave that he just turned the power off!

ALthough PS2 cant and doesnt have PSO,I think that Magic Gate kinda prevents corruption too right?

Even if it doesn't prevent corruption, the Emotion Engine will stop you from getting too upset if you corrupt http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

One time on Dreamcast, my mom came into my room as I was quiting the game. Just as the saving screen popped up, she tripped on the controller cord and disconnected the controller from the DC. Since the memory cards were in the controllers back then, she corrupted my level 112 Ranger. Boo!

Don't you hate it when parents ignorantly trip over controller cords?

Gotta love the Wavebird.

Online, if you just turn the thing off while your in a room, it's the same thing as a FSODX. At least that's what I learned when I did that.

It's not like FSOD-X, or at least it was not like that for me. It's FSOD-X if you do it when the game is autosaving. If you do it at any other moment, you'll just lose the unequipped stuff.

And YES, I hate when parents break in your room and trip over the cords u_u makes me wish to have a shotgun.

I accidentally turned my power bar off (dreamcast was plugged into it) with my foot when PSO was saving. I was very lucky that nothing happened.

True. They own the place. But even when you've been warning them FOR YEARS about what to do and what not to do whenever they get into your room and THEY STILL DO IT like "Dont put the console near the stove!!" or "eh! what have I told you about leaving the console just in front of the door!?!?" makes you wonder about if there really are intelligent lifeforms around you in your house. u_u
