For those of you interested in getting a new music player, Apple announced 4 gigabyte mini iPods today. They carry about 1000 songs, come in 5 colors, and are about 3.5 x 2 inches. The downside is that they're $249. For $50 more, you can get a 15 gig full sized iPod (Also new.)

Oh well, the 10 gig I got for christmas is enough for me.

Rules aside, I think Apple screwed up somewhere along the lines ..When the original iPod came out sometime last year, the 5 GB held 1000 songs
Now, the mini 4GB holdsa 1000 songs as well ?
Loophole somewhere in their calculations.

Anywho ...
I've had a 10 GB iPod of my own since about March of "03 and I'm only 1.3 GB from filling it !! XD

How can this be advertising, we are just talking about it. So I supposed if I told everyone when pso 3 comes out and show a preorder link I would get banned?

iPod is nice and all, but I don't like the idea of having to sedn it back to Apple to get the battery replaced

I don't think anybody likes it. You just kinda have to put up with it, since ALL Lithium Ion Batteries eventually lose their charge.

Firocket, just... no.

The minis are neat and all, but considering the huge difference in storage space for only $50 less, they're not terribly worth it. Smaller and lighter, yes, but not by much.

The newer figure goes by AAC encoding, not mp3 encoding. The AAC files tend to be smaller, so it could conceivably add up to that.

I believe that site is what they were referring to.

Apple now offers a $60 extended warranty (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/70108/wo/4S1WEjKztSRv2ZyZvxg1H7o7e4i/9.0.7.1.0.5.3) for the iPod, which appears to cover the battery as well.
