My cube is in my room, and the comp is down stairs. If I were to get a bba, how would I go about hooking it up to the internet and making it work up in my room? Any help would be apreciated.

you'll need to use some type of Wireless Ethernet Bridge along with a router or hub. I've seen someone mention some type of wireless adapter but I'm not sure what it is, I think Rich_T knows about it.

There are two basic options avaialable to you to get your gamecube conectd to broadband
1: get a long bit of ethernet cable, and run it from your P.C to your gamecube.
2: Get a wirelss network set up, and use a wireless bridge adaptor ( search google for examples, linksys do one, as do other companys)

If you dont have a wireless network, setting one up can be expensive, and its not realy worth it just for a gamecube, if you have a wirelss network already then it might be worht looking at.

heres some ideas on how to get a cable form one point to another:

you may need a long cable form your internet source to your gamecube, and its not realy practicle to have this great long cable running accross the place.
so you will probably have to make a few holes, if your gamecube is upstairs and your P.C downstairs:
You can buy some PVC trunking as shown here
http://www.thorsman.com/UK/Products/P1724_150.gif
This runs up your wall, to a hole that you have drilled in the ceiling of the room where your P.C is.
you then route the cable up through the trunking, through the hole under the floorboards upstairs to a point where your gamecube is, then another hole in the floor, and up into your gamecube.

You can just pass the cable up the wall, through a hole in the ceiling, but if you use trunking ( available form most DIY sotres electrical stores it will look much much neater.
if you want to go for a profesional neat and tidy job you can just buy plain ethernet cable without the plugs on each end, and wire that into some wall sockets as shown here:

Umm, If I got another dsl modem and installed that im my room upstairs, would that work? Also if it would, what problems would that pose? Could I be online the same time someone is online downstairs? Any other information regarding that?

you can only use 1 modem at a time so there is no point. What you want is a router or hub (which is cheaper) and it needs to be wireless unless you want to run a lot of cable. That will allow you to play PSO online while someone downstairs uses the computer. You're looking at a minimum of a couple hundred dollars to do a wireless setup. You would need a wireless router or hub and then a wireless ethernet bridge (which is kinda spendy as well.) If there is any way possible, look into getting a cheap hub ($30) and figure out about how much cable you need to get from the hub downstairs to your GC upstairs and go that route.

That really sucks, so now I need to get my dad to let me run some ethernet cable all around the house http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif. Im not too sure he will go for that, he didnt look too pleased to the whole running cable to my room idea. Well I will persevere, but this really sucks http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

If you hide the cables in trunking ( sometimes called square conduit) ot doesnt look that bad, my cable runs in trunking which is positioned between a doorway, and a lightswitch, as shown below:

Depending upon your hom situation, i would say that doing this yourself, as long as you make it look good, is a valuable expeirience, and you may be able to learn the basics of some skills, such as the safe use of power tools.

Well, you mentioned that eventually you'll get a computer up in your room with internet access. By doing this, you'll already have the necessary part done for getting that computer on the internet.

Ok, can anyone tell me if this might work, this is what my dads freind at work proposed to us.
At my house we have some extra pairs running around in wiring. My dad said we may just install another jak next to the computer (ethernet jak, not phone jak), and run that to another jak in my room. Then we could just put an ethernet cable in that one, and go into the gc bba. Would that work??? Im starting to get exited thinking that I may be online somtime soon!!!

Please tell me if this might be a viable option.

Extra pairs running around? What exactly are these pairs? Network cabling is very specific stuff. There are 8 different wires within a network cable. You can use this type of cable & install 'jacks' instead of running it on the outside of the wall or down the hallway & up the stairs.

As above, aan ethernet cable is basicly 8 wires inside a flexible sheath.
Cable pairs is ( from where im from anyway) not a very descriptive term, by this it could be some Twin+earth ( mains eletric circuits) or phone cable.
If you have unused, and more immportantly un conected mains wiring, i dont see why you couldnt use this.
most mains wiring comes as a falt looking cable, inside this are three wiresm two are in a coloured sheath and another one is just bare copper, you can use this as your network cable, but you will need 3 runs.
anpother solution would be to buy some ethernet cable that does not have any plugs or sockets atached, and some wall sockets http://www.maplin.co.uk/media/largeimages/27245i0.jpg there easy to wore up, as everything is colour coded.

Asuming you have an unused unconected cable running from near your p.c to near your gamecube, you might be able to pull at it at one end, and have it move at the other, in other words pull a little bit of it through.
If you can do this, FIRMLY attach a long peice of string to one end, and pull the cable through, until the cable is replaced with string.
Next tie your ethernet cable FIRMLY and SECURLY to the string, pull the string through, and the ehternet cable will be in place of the string. you might want to tie an aditional poeice of string on, so you pull the ethernet cabel, and another bit of string through, you can use this extra bit for any more cables that you might ant to run in the future.

I got the wireless router, and the wireless game adapter b from linksys. It wont work though, I keep getting error no.013. What does this mean? Both lights light up, and Im pretty sure I did everything right. What else can I do, I have no idea what to do now.
