I hate spyware.

New computer and we already have it on here.

What is a good free program to get rid of it?

Add-Aware and Spyboy: Seek and Destroy are both great programs and should get just about everything. What one misses the other one picks up so they work great together. You can get em free off zdnet.com or download.com, both are freeware apps.

go to the HOST file (auto refresh thing) thread in the Site Related forum, if you can understandt what to do, i think that'll help. I can't understand it.

Any links Guntz? I couldnt find any, SpyKiller you have to pay for. Is freaking Spyware even legal? People who do it ought to be shot, same as people who make viruses.

Spyware is illigal because you are having it unknowingly placed onto your system. The data it gathers therefore SHOULDN'T be of any concern to you, because it is illigally gathered intelligence. And they can't say they had 'Reason to belive...' because they are placed on certain sites.

Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/)
Spybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/) (not Spyboy; someone's been reading too many comic books)

I prefer the latter, but Ad-Aware isn't bad either.

Always read terms of agreement when you install stuff. O_o

You might end up agreeing to install crap you don't want.

Don't be silly. Nobody reads Peter David's comics.

Ya know the "t" and the "y" are right next to each other and when you have dumb clumsy fingers like mine you always hit the wrong key http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

When I do a spyware search I always run both Ad-Aware and Spybot:S&D. i find that both programs complement each other as one program will pick up spyware that the other one does not.

And Sord, check out that geocities site linked, it explains why te thing works and how to install it on that site,
