Netzero is not compatible with PSO. NO ISP that requires proprietary software to connect will directly work with PSO unless you use ICS (internet connection sharing) which is covered in the sticky.

MXdude
Jan 25, 2004, 02:48 PM
i thought that was just for netzero cuz its free but i use nzhs.

doesn't matter if its free or nzhs. You missed the point entirely. It is not compatible because it uses PROPRIETARY SOFTWARE to connect. Both the free version and the so called high speed version both use software to dial into your account. That is NOT compatible with PSO, because PSO has no way of utilizing that software to connect you. You will need to use ICS (internet connection sharing.)

i read somewhere in another post that that servcie uses some sort of prozy to alter how large files such as images are downloaded, so it is in fact just a 56k service, and is not compatable with pso
you could do a forum search on it to see what turns up.

VioletSkye
Jan 25, 2004, 03:19 PM
Yeah it is a 56k service. It uses slipstream technology to download image files quicker is all. The actual download speed is still dialup speed.

Are you sure you are clicking on the SHORTCUT tab in PROPERTIES?
If it is grayed out and you can't access it, just go into your Netzero folder and create another desktop shortcut icon./

Why would you uninstall it, you haven't even tried running it yet? Just make a new NZHS icon on your desktop and try again.

VioletSkye

maybe, but i doubt thats the problem. I think you messed up a step somewhere.

Take a screenshot of the Target window and post it here, or just type out what it says in the Target window.

basically all you are doing is telling raspy to launch nzhs, and it will take care of the rest in regards to obtaining the real access number, uername and pasword.

Click the find target button and browse to your netzero.exe file or whatever .exe file launches netzero.

Also it wont matter which shortcut you use, you can copy and paste any shortcut icon on your desktop and change the target to what it says in the tutorial

In fact just create anew shortcut on your desptop to use.

right click on it, then select Send to, then select Desk top (create shortcut) if that doesn't work and its still greyed out, then create a new shortcut from scratch on your desktop by rightclicking on any empty space (as in no icons) and select New, the nselect shortcut. Then browse to the netzero.exe and then name the shortcut whatever you want.

VioletSkye

I'm a guy so you might want to rethink kissing me lol. As for the sticky, there is nothing that will mess up your pc. make sure to follow the directions carefully and you should be close to taking PSO online http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

remember to substitute YOUR exe paths in the target window.

send me a copy and paste of the path to your rasspy and a also your netzero.exe and I'll tell you exactly what to put in the target window. Then double click the icon and when netzero logs in, try connecting to the internet and when the rasspy window comes up write down the phone number, username and password. Then use that info in your Network Options on your GC.

MXdude
Jan 25, 2004, 07:54 PM

VioletSkye

like i said, copy and paste the paths to both your rasspy and netzero.exe. Make sure that you use YOUR path not the one in the tutorial.

ok then use

"c:rasspy.exe" cmd="c:Program FilesNetZeroexec.exe"

just copy and paste that into your target window.

problem with shortcut:

the name'c:rasspy.exe' specified in the target box is invalid. Make sure the path n file name are correct.

should i just make it 'c:rasspy' with not .exe?

VioletSkye
Jan 25, 2004, 08:47 PM
is that where your rasspy exe is located? if so then

"c:rasspy.exe" would be right.

MXdude
Jan 25, 2004, 08:51 PM
lol i just retried n it didnt say ne thing so ill try

MXdude
Jan 25, 2004, 08:54 PM
*jumps up n kicks his feet together*

woohoo now where do i get all the info i need?

VioletSkye
Jan 25, 2004, 08:57 PM
IF your Rasspy executable is in fact in your C: Drive, then copy and paste this into your target window:

"c:rasspy.exe" cmd="c:Program FilesNetZeroexec.exe"

Then, disconnect from the internet entirely and run your icon. It should run rasspy and NZHS. If it does and you get logged onto NZHS, then go onto the internet and thats when the popup window should show that gives you the phone number, username and password. Write that all down and use that in your GC network options.

MXdude
Jan 25, 2004, 09:04 PM
ok the little window came up played music then it connected with nz n then i got no popup

VioletSkye
Jan 25, 2004, 09:13 PM
its supposed to pop up when you try to connect to the internet. So disconnect and do it again. Once you are logged on, open Internet Explorer and see if the window pops up.

The guide says

When Juno is open, try to connect to the internet. A window will pop up -- "Remote Access Service Phonebook Spy" (that's RASspy) -- and it will contain the phone number you are dialing, your real username, and your real password. Write everything down in its entirety, because you will need all of this information.
