View Full Version : US copy of PSO working on Japanese DC

Hi all!

I should post this on the tech support forum. But this is a bit of an emergency, so I hope you won't mind.

My friend recently got his legit copy of PSO (US version). He is using a non-mod-chipped Japanese DC and has trouble getting the game to load. Normally for US games, he uses a bootdisk. But with PSO, he is getting a blank screen. He thinks it might be a defective copy of PSO, but I think the chance of that is low.

Does anybody have a similar setup? (US PSO + Japanese DC?) Is there any special trick you have to do to get the game to load? Is there a URL or FAQ he can look it for help?

I am not sure if this has been posted before, but my connection here is really slow and I am having a hard time looking at the previous posts. So I would very much appreciate it if anyone can post a solution here. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif

Any help or suggestion will be very much appreciated. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_smile.gif

I am fairly positive that he might as well get the import. I know that Sega went to great expense to make sure the games were not compatable on opposite systems.

Tell him to burn this game, then use the serial/access keys from original PSO......
Just a thought. I don't encourage piracy....

Well, I guess it wouldn't technically be piracy if he keeps his legit copy of US version and then use the registration number and access key from that on an import to get online, right?

Since he's already paid for the rights to one copy of the software... then again, I could be wrong about this.... http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_razz.gif

Hey Ifu!
I don't have a solution to your problem, but I figured I'd stop by to say hello. I'm at school, and just can't wait to get home and play PSO. I've been here for about 15 mins, and the wait is already killing me.
Hopefully see you online again tonite. Later

My friend uses a Asian DC to play the US version of PSO. Of course the boot disk does not work, but I gave him a copy of my action replay CDX demo and that boots the game just fine.
