Mil lily blunder...

Today i decide to pipe out a Standstill Shield. I go to the spot in the temple with 5 Ob Lilys, and set up camp right by the lone Ob lily, and set it so i can see the other 4 on the other side. Bout 10 minutes later the lone lily becomes a Mil Lily. I was talking to a friend online, so i turn to say YAY, and i hear THUNK, and i look over and somehow im dead... I was standing so the lone lily was biting at me. And the other 4 lilys Megid was out of reach... Apparently the Mil boosts the other lilys range or something... Or i bumped the controller as i went to type or something. Either way it sucked, as it asks me if i want to return to pioneer 2, as im looking at a Mil Lily >.<

yeah that sucks. ive had similar things happen in many hours of piping.

the way i usually screw it up is to get into the piping groove and get so used into it that i pipe away too quickly and see the rare enemy fade away as i pipe back to P2.

i think ive also been pecked to death by a rappy waiting for a rare version to wake up off the ground.

edit: yes i think the Megid distance can be upped when super charged by a MIL apperance.

and im up to 5 Redria Mils now with NO replacement for my Demo Comet... eh.

Jeez Deus, that sucks. I would of thought you would of found one by now. something compareable happened to my while i was torr piping... first one after... 10 or so tries, i run out of the room to take a snap and he kills me already in the other room. and i had only one scape packed in (which was gone already).

well... 10 pipes later there was this one on the snap and it dropped me an iritista. ^-^

yea a good tip is to cary 1 or 2 scapes when piping MILS or Hildetorr.

it can save some serious aggravation after hours of piping!

I pipe for millys and torrs in the temple with about 20 edk and 1 or 2 scapes. I've never been killed by a rare enemy, except when lain first got to ult. I was like "I'm gonna go get a hero/ability, awesome!"

so i piped 3 pal rappies that day and all 3 killed me.

thats what happens when you play in ult. with a hunter the first time ever. heh.

I've never been killed by a rare enemy. I'm too big of a sissy. Each time I see a rare enemy (especially those who launch megid) I scream like a little girl and jump in to the adjoining hallway.

A friend of mine told me a funny story about when he first started piping hildetorrs. He had just entered Ult. (level 70 or so). When he found the first 'torr, he rushed it with full life and it smacked him and he died.

Yeah, I share the pain of those god darn Mil Lilies. I was just playing caves being all cool killing Vulmers and then this BIG BLACK, PURPLE BALL shoots right through my body. I don't know if anyone else answered your question, but yes, a Mil Lilly does boost the Megid of its accomplice Obs. That must've been what got you.

And this is why I don't like the Hunters, they get to go so close to Lillies and Hildetorrs that the chance of being attacked by megid is much higher. Meanwhile, I stand as far away as possible with my ranger and pick each inidividual enemy off with my rifle when I see a rare lilly. Or, when I found my first Hildetorr, i ran into the room, casted grants, and ran out. Took like 15 more tries, but I finally killed it without sustaining a hit.

Out of the 30 or so mils i've piped in search of as psychowand in waterfall tears, the only time i was killed was when there were 2 mils in the same room. I had 80 Dark Resistance, so i was actually quite surprised it killed me...Usually the megids just bounce off me, and if i see a mil, i go and kill it right away. That time, however, the mils were on different ends of the room so it was hard to hit them both...

I don't know if anyone else answered your question, but yes, a Mil Lilly does boost the Megid of its accomplice Obs. That must've been what got you. One time I think the opposite happened. The Mil Lily Megid seemed no stronger than regular Ob Lily megid as I survived it twice with just 15 EDK.

When I piped torrs I always had at least 3 scapes on me, but usually more. When I pipe Mils I do the same.

Eh. About the only thing I worry bout is megid. Most of the stuff just bounces off of me...unless I get distracted and I'm like hey look Arlan. Grans sorceror megids Zel. Zel dies. If I'm looking straight at it when it casts it doesn't kill...but if I'm not it does....strange....

Just found my 4th Mil. It dropped my Standstill http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif Anyway i looked at the Megid before and after the Mil appeared. It didn't look ANY different and definatly didn't go any farther... So when it killed me the first time, i must have bumped the controller and moved far enough away from the lone Lily, for it to kill me. If you stand by the one, the other 4 cant reach you, even with a Mil in the group. So uh, my bad :/ And the Standstill has 175 DFP 176 EVD for those who like to compare. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

On a side note, i was really suprised i seen so many Mil's so fast, only piping on 5 Lilys... The longest of the 4 was about an hour. The rest were within 15 minutes of starting. Mil lillies somtimes get an advanced megid, and when they do, all the other lillies get it as well. Whatever level the mil lillies megid is, that is what the others will be. From what Ive noticed, it can range from normal, to the huge purple ball coming from hildetorrs. *shrug*

Try piping where's a good number of the rare's normal counterpart and just keep at it.


As for the Megid thing, it sure seems to me that Obs get a boost when Mils are around:

It's not too hard to get your EDK to over 100 and it's not like Lilies can come running after you, so I don't see why you shouldn't pipe for Mils without some major EDK.

I agree with Sounomi. Just take out that old Delsaber's Shield and if you are over level 111 and have a Brightness Circle it does wonders. Add to that some Resist/Devil or the like and you should have plenty of dark resistance to take them on with ease. Now about getting my Oran to EP2 Ult on the other hand...

In one day, I got two Aura Fields and one Standstill shield. Hell, that Standstill shield was a fluke, but for some damn reason my Sato decided to *gasp* revive me.

And it wasn't from Megid. A Crimsion Assassin decided to get into the orgy that consisted of two Dimineans swiping at me and an Ob Lily barking at me.

if this helps:

any creature that has a rare counterpart can become a rare creature. not right before your eyes though. you can force it to change by piping it (offline only).

online its either a rare enemy or not. its random. you cannot controll it.

They dont get the boost EVERY time. I have no clue what affects whether they get it or not, but i know it doesn't happen every time. You know when it happens tho. The Megid doubles in size, and sounds a lot different. I'm not sure if the range is increased tho. Have to try that out sometime. And very nice Pic btw. 1-yeah the range is increased if the Megid Lv is
2-the Obs do not literally get a "boost", they get the Mil's (or in Sounomi's case Mils') Megid, which can be higher or lower than Ob's usual Megid.

Horrible (or good depending on your point of view) rare enemy luck recently. I was making my regular redria caves run to pipe red slimes and in the second wave of the first room a mil appears. Also in the room are two vulmers and an ob lilly. I ran at an arc to avoid the megid back toward the door. I had planned to pick off each enemy individually with a handgun. I didn't make it to the door, though. The vulmers converged on me and pinned me into a corner and BOTH lillies shot me and I died. Pissed, I cut my way to cave 2 and began piping. After about two hours I found the red slime but being in the piping groove I jumped back into the telepipe. I found two more slimes that day but neither droped the prized red box. Damn them.
