I get this message when I try to purchase a hunter's licence:

the CN name in the cert is not same as site name

then

please verify on the calender screen that the time and date are correct

(the time and date are correct... unless, of course, I'm stuck in some sort of time-warp and don't know it)

i know the GC is connecting to the net, because I can move around to some of the screens in the hunter's licence area, but if I start to register a new account, it just freezes, nothing seems to do anything.

Just to let you know, if you visit the sega.net forums, you'll see that MANY people are having the same problem you are having with the site not working. Apparently, they are/were updating the site and it is causing problems for people trying to purchase a HL.

Does anyone have an idea of just how long this website problem is going to last?
I checked on SEGA's website and found one recent complaint about this, and even that wasn't that recent.
I've now been trying everyday since january 28th to get a HL through my GC, using a BBA.
The BBA obviously connects to something because I can browse the PSO site for information about registering and all that.
Except when I get to the actual registration part, it gives me the message I quoted in my first post of this thread. Also, it allows me to start entering my access key and registration number, then it just freezes there. Pressing "Submit" does absolutely nothing. It doesn't move to a next screen. Nada. Zip.

have you tried getting a HL using your pc instead of trying to get one using the GC? You may even be able to call them directly and set one up.

Okay, I've tried going online (PC) to get a hunter's licence but it sends me to a website with a slightly different URL than the original:
http://www.sega.sf.yav4.com
is this an official SEGA site or a hack?
let's just say I get leery when a site is diverted to a different name, especially when they're going to charge my credit card.
