help getting GC to 'find' the ba and get online

This might be a problem with my GC I don't know.

I got a ba from someone but was told it worked fine (it was a friend who gave it to me free). When I insert it into my GC... nothing. When I go to set it up, I just get a window that pops up that says I need to attach a modem or whatever.

Any clue? I've tried taking it out and putting it back in multiple tries. I also am in the process of tracking down another GC to try, but any help in the meantime, thanks!

from what i can remeber, when i first set mine up, the gamecube wont recognise it, until you go to the network set up menu in PSO.
As for a little window popping up, are you conecting it to your P.C and trying to use internet conection sharing?
if so you need a CROSSOVER cable anything else wont work.
