I have aquired the miraculous ability to translate the screen that you see when first getting on. Maybe this is due to the many times I have had disconnection problems.

You can judge how good your connection is to this screen, if no one else knows. I use a BBA so it might be different for other people.

The shorter the pause, the better.

what screen is this X box or cube?
all i get is a welcome to the world of Phantasy star online your hunters licence expires on..

This is GC. What I mean is when you are actually connecting to the server. The little shiny star that you can move with all the colors.

Usually there is a pause while connecting. The longer the pause is, the less likly you will get on. You want a really short pause, that means you have a strong connection. If you have a really long pause, and still get on, you are at a higher risk of disconnecting. A long pause also represents a busy server, which meens that a lot of people are on. Lag is represented mostly by one pause followed by a really quick pause. Lag also causes a long pause.
