I think that the special attack randomly kills you when using it, but I could be wrong...

Your friend could be right, depending on how you interpret him. The Dark Meteor does make you far more likely to die, so in a sense it will get you killed... It's not exactly built into the weapon, but your mortality does indeed go up when you equip it.

actually my friends humars cmcd and zero56 use its special all the time but motley when i'm there with heaven punisher to keep enimies at bay.
we have a crazy combo zero56 and cmcd use their dark flow specials while me and jinx_101 use our dark meteors special. it's sweet two big wave attacks and two green beams we have killed the dragon before it even got in the air (ULT)
it was funny.
but cmcd can kill the dragon with the low health attack and not die.
